game looking better than XV?
Crazy how the last really liked main FF was XII in 2006
Also its crazy how from 2012-2022 we have "only" got XIV and XV and from 1994-2004 we got VI, VII, VIII, IX, X and XI
Matsuno leaked this on Twitter a while ago but there’s now official confirmation (PlayStation Blog) that the lead writer is Kazutoyo Maehiro. He wrote Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward (one of the best stories in the series), and I’m already seeing shades of his work in all of the promotional material that’s been released so far.

Square struggled in the transition from standard to high definition development after the PS2 and have only just recovered in recent years. Development issues with XIII, XIV, XV, and to a lesser extent Kingdom Hearts III and VII Remake can all be traced back to poor management and undercooked game engines (Crystal Tools, Luminous).
It looks like the company is hitting its stride again with XIV being all-round incredible, VII Remake being a hit (weirdo ending aside), and XVI showing all signs of being a banger.
Yo I really wanna get back into FF. Are there any of the more recent ones that y’all would recommend?
The last one I played was X and that’s literally in my list of my favorite games OAT. I recently finished the remaster and now I feel like getting back into it

XIV has some of the best storytelling in its medium and is essential if you love Final Fantasy and JRPGs. The MMO tag can be a turn-off but the main scenario is mostly a single player experience that only occasionally requires you to do group content, and it’s totally worthwhile to play through all of it.
XV is a mess but it also has a lot of soul, and it managed to make me care about the main cast and their journey by the end despite its flaws. The ideas present in its gameplay and narrative are more interesting than the execution, but it’s a wholly unique experience that I think you might enjoy if you give it a chance.

Oh wow very interesting. Appreciate ya for this
Really can’t get over that last pic man Jesus it looks incredible
Yeah the open world, and its looks as well as interactivity is my main concern. These screens look leaps and bound above anything from xv.
Too bad it's such a long wait still.
New trailer got me in a FF mood, just started XII
Enjoying a lot so far, lots of exploration too, like i just unlocked going to the lower zone to talk to some dude to break in the celebration, but the map just opened up and they let me explore a lot
Combat looking 🔥🔥🔥🔥
what the hell was that big ass pause before he shot lightning gunna make combat clunky as hell
