Crack-Up like the dark version of Shore
Pecknold even said “Shore is like Crack-Up’s friendly brother”

Crack-Up has a lot more obscure influences that are hard to pinpoint, here I could hear the influences. They aren’t bad but don’t feel distinctly like the band, just an homage. That’s cool and all, I just like the more electronic pulsey, looped based folk on Crack-Up, plus the sampling and really nice use of sections on that record.

you can def. make out the influences a lot more clearly on this album (beach boys for one)
but i feel like i just love the more optimistic sound of this whole thing it def. feels like their summer album (late summer/early fall) at that lmao
it just sounds hopeful and ready for the road ahead and things to come and i love that about it.

make that top 5 tbh
song perfectly captures the power music has to evoke memories of our favorite artists the, once who have passed.
making it feel like we we're part of the journey, associating our own memories with certain songs or albums, such a bitter sweet song.
really drives the point of "after all the music will always last" point home.
a music lovers tribute to music ig.
