Maybe it’s more of a slasher than horror but idk the difference cause I’m green on the whole genre. It was a cool watch. It had some nice editing and shots (a favorite of mine being when the TV playing the sermon is in the the foreground and Mia Goth tired af in the background)
Idk why but I can’t stand Mia Goth personally especially in Brandon Cronenberg’s Infinity Pool. Idk if people relate but she was insufferable in that film

This and Emma are the only things I’ve seen her in. Don’t remember her in Emma tbh but I didn’t realize it was her playing the old woman in X until I read the thread on here so I have to admit she did pretty good in that role

Week 1 - Don't Look Now (1973) Directed by Nicolas Roeg
Started off strong with a film I've been meaning to watch for a long time. I've seen 4 other Roeg films but 3 back in 2005/6 and the last one in 2011 so I can't really compare them fairly. However, based on the scores I gave those films Don't Look Now is by far my favorite of his films so far. The editing was some of the best I've ever seen and the way it creates unease and a feeling of dread was masterful. Many times throughout the film I thought it must have influenced this director or that film franchise while also feeling the influence Hitchcock had on Roeg.
Forgot about this again, but what’s next blud? @op
Im gonna update every Saturday now because I realized Friday is too busy for me to be consistent and the first week started Saturday as well so y’all mfs itt got one day to complete the first week

Calling it in
Week 1: Festival of the Living Dead (2024) directed by Jen Soska, Sylvia Soska
1/5 - A Rated R CW-esqe Tubi Original sequel to Night of the Living Dead. Worst Soska Sisters' film. Good practical effects.
I saw I Saw The TV Glow
It’s technically A24 “elevated horror”, but anyone who’s a David Lynch fan should f***ing RUN to go see this.
I found scenes here more disturbing than any conventional horror. It truly feels like a nightmare while also feeling like a very raw, intimate wound. No doubt you’ll get more out of it if you’re trans, but I found a lot of levels to connect with it on. Together with the also excellent “We’re All Going to the World’s Fair”, Jane Schoenbrun can do no wrong with me. These movies contain an impossibly sad amount of loneliness if you tap into their wavelengths.
5/5
Week 1: Late Night with the Devil (2024)
I’ve heard so much about this but avoided most of the trailers and only knew a bit of the premise. Really enjoyed the love for the late night format displayed throughout and how authentic to the time period the sets looked. Some of the effects were a cool some were meh. I kinda got super annoyed by how dumb some of the characters acted but overall it was an enjoyable movie
2.5/5
