I hate this idea of “by Kanye’s standards...” If it’s trash it’s trash. People will always try to make it so that they don’t truly criticise Kanye.

I enjoyed JIK somewhat. I hated Ye.

As much as it pains me to admit, TLOP was the beginning of the downfall because it’s clear that’s when he got the ball moving on a bunch of other stuff.

Production wise he’s still amazing but nowadays he can’t really make a full length enjoyable album with replay value.

Its not s*** but he for sure is putting less effort/time into music. Thats expected though given his age and interests

    What about Jay Z?

by normal standards his new stuff is okay

by kanye standards they're way below what we're used to

and with all the Yandhi leaks we know that he's capable of still putting up things that are up to the quality that we're used to

so it's frustrating to say the least that the material he's put out is way below what we're used to AND we see that he has material that is up to par in the vault

What yandhi leaks you think are showing that he’s still capable of doing music that were used to by him?

  • Nov 12, 2020

I feel like hes already proven himself and now hes just doing what he want and having fun music wise, which I'm cool with

    What about Jay Z?

He's got a much better team around him, and his lyricism and mic presence haven't gone away unlike ye

ye was mostly good music, but the rawness in the mixes & production, compared to all his previous work which featured more thorough mixing & complex production, was very atypical for Kanye, so a lot of his fans were put off by it. he also had some really s***ty verses on that album (Yikes), and it felt like he was the least necessary part of certain songs at times (Ghost Town). so it was below par for a Kanye album, but not bad imo.

KSG was also alright. it’s barely even a Kanye album though, it’s mostly Cudi ft. Kanye (with the exception of maybe 2 songs). it was decent for a Cudi album but not really that good if you consider it a Kanye album. hypebeasts overrate it bc Fantano gave it a 10 & people were thirsty for new Cudi.

JIK was his worst project by far though. and on top of most of the songs being skips, what makes it worse is knowing how the demos sounded before he went all “rap & bad words are a sin” on everybody. only reason i even got through the first listen was bc Kanye’s name is attached to it, but if it were by any other artist, i woulda deleted it from my library before even finishing one full play.

it hurts the most knowing he coulda dropped Yandhi but dropped JIK instead.

  • Nov 13, 2020

Wash Us In The Blood and Nah Nah Nah are decent but only compared to JIK. The songs are at least refreshing since they sound more complete than anything off JIK. Compared to TLOP and stuff before that? WAY below par.

Ye - solid album. 6/10. Could’ve been better

KSG - okay album. Cudi carried. Some nice Kanye verses tho. Overrated

Jesus is king - like this one more than the others. A solid 7/10 for me. Again, could’ve been better

Wash us in the blood - decent song. Not much replay ability for me. Cool video tho

Nah nah nah - is trash

His features since 2018 have been pretty good. Watch, ego death, track 6, hurry, mixed personalities are all songs I enjoy

JIK pretty eh by all standards

ye is a great album, Ghost Town is in my top 3 Kanye songs

    KSG is exceptional

Nah Nah Nah is just... TERRIBLE

Wash Us in the Blood is awesome

Ghost Town is my #1 Kanye song

  • Nov 13, 2020

JIK isn’t great or anything, but it’s easily better than Ye

If Ye didn’t have Ghost Town I’d probably delete it from my iTunes

The main problem with Kanye now is his execution.

Him being able to fully flesh out his ideas in his music is what made him great.

Idk what he’s doing now. He’ll be sitting on some fire and either won’t release it or he’ll release a worse version smh

  • Nov 13, 2020

nah nah nah beat should go to dababy

    his verse

  • Nov 13, 2020

Nah nah nah has good lyrics but unfortunately it’s ruined by his delivery and that garbage beat

Wash us in the blood is slightly less trash

    I really like Ye

People harp on Ye’s rapping trending downwards but he was never a great rapper or a respected lyricist so its whatever

JIK was a solid gospel album and Ye was a really good personal look into Ye’s mind, never understood the dislike for it

Yall gotta stop lying. Kanye was one of the best rappers ever but lost it

Facts and it all started during TLOP era, that’s why I feel bad for people who became Kanye fans in that 2014-2016 time period

Nah, he was never considered top 10 or top 20 for rap rap, his “pen” has always been shared and even then you rarely got displays of amazing lyricism on the level of a Jay or a Wayne

He had one of the best deliveries oat and was able to keep up AND outrap goats like hov, mos def etc. I dont like that we suddenly act like was never a great rapper / or a produder first to make excuses for his recent output.

Ye never really out-rapped hov on wax till way after hov fell off.

This isnt a new narrative, Ye’s pen was never regarded as legendary especially since he has always had a lot of help.

He makes up for it with his production and overall quality though

hurricane, last name, city in the sky, alien

even the early version of selah where he's still cursing is so much better than the version we got on JiK

  • Only songs from Ye I still bump are yikes and ghost town but still those two are incredible songs.

I liked Ye when it released but haven’t went back in almost a year. That entire era leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Everything was rushed and I felt he prioritized the antics over the art.

JIK is very lackluster which sucks compared to the effort he put in videos and marketing it. His best years are behind him if we are being honest, it took me so long to admit that to myself. It’s infuriating that he spends a lot of time working on music more than ever compared to post- Yeezus Ye but the outcomes are always subpar. Sometimes it feels like he puts little no effort in rapping anymore.

Also I’d like to mention that the fandom is worse then it’s ever been. It’s full of young kids who honestly have no clue why Kanye was so revered as an artist and icon. They blindly follow his words and eat up his new music. It’s so cringe seeing these new Ye stan IG accounts jack the minimalist/futurist/Blade Runner aesthetic from each other.

    that 3rd point

a bunch of 15yo kids who don't respect his older music at all and don't give af abt his deteriorating mentals

they're probably the reason his approach to everything is so wacky now

When people talk about Ye being great at rapping, they aren’t speaking of his lyricism compared to a Hov or Nas.

One thing Old Ye had that was unique was his flow, charisma, witty punchlines and Ofcourse Great Production.

Now outside of production, everything else is weak. He cant rap on beat or find his pocket like he used to. No special charisma or anything, most of times nowadays he sounds like he trying to keep up with the younger acts and that’s when he’s the most cringe.

When he’s rapping like he knows how to f***ing rap (Reborn) or he’s in his musical genius bag (Ghost Town), that’s when he shines the most. The problem is that we can’t get a full project of those gems. Just 1-3 per album.

New Ye stans are almost as bad his Yes Men. That’s the reason why terrible songs like “Nah Nah Nah” gets released in 2020.

“Oh he’s just having fun” No nigga that s*** is TRASH lol stop enabling him to be mediocre. That’s the problem, y’all accept anything.
