Yes, they can be upset. But I’m saying that he’s not just trying to f*** his fans over. It’s not easy to ship millions of products Independently

of course not, i don't think that either. but in a situation like not, they're customers before fans. i think maybe they'd appreciate more transparency? again, money was spent.

idk maybe i'm not all that informed on what's going on, but from what i've seen niggas just want what they paid for and were told to expect in a certain timeframe.

I’m with you there. I think frank relies very heavily on his mysterious persona. And to an extent it works doesn’t it? I’m not surprised he sticks with it when it creates such a f***in high demand for literally anything frank ocean.

it works, until fans want to know what’s up with the vinyls they purchased and you’re completely radio silent

there’s a level of professionalism that comes with being an independent artist, that professionalism is usually handled by the label when you’re signed

literally all he’d have to do is acknowledge the delay and tell fans he’s working to get the products to them

  • as far as music, there's no telling if he even decides to put out a full-length project again. i'm appreciating everything we're given in between.

It’s been f***in years and people still haven’t received their merch just hire a company to handle your shipping for you ffs. Frank truly doesn’t give a f*** bout his fans.

    Is this true?

Its okay Franky take your time

Stans are getting excited over leaked adlibs now The truth is he finessed the Hollywood elites with Blonde, but he simply doesn't have that kind of budget and industry access anymore. He's probably blackballed. He dropped the Blonde leftovers and fell off right after.

    hey man relax

but if he cant even get his records delivered to people due to covid, and cant hold any more Prep parties due to covid, then how can the rollout he planned continue? those were the literal backbone of it

even looking back to blonde the rollout was very much taking place in the real world, with the pop-up stores. i swear yall switch your brains off to the greater context of our world rn when you say stuff like this

the last PreP ended on thanksgiving. First shelter in place orders were early march. what accounts for that 5 month gap in silence save for some posts and merchandise?

  • May 29, 2020

Feel like fans were excited because:
    1. He ‘finessed’
    2. He’s getting money from his music and not being screwed over by another recording company like ever other artist

I think people can feel haply for him in that sense and still want music from one of their favorite artists

Not by some artists, but by industry and their connects. I’m guessing there are manufacturing and distribution companies that won’t work with him. And I’ll bet that there are plenty of artists that aren’t allowed to work with Frank because they’re label says no. It’s how the industry’s always worked, don’t see why it would change for him.

Idk how he’s doing it atm, but with endless vinyls he used some company and they f***ed up nearly every package. I have 2 copies and both are banged up. I can see why he wouldn’t trust the job with someone else. And the bigger more professional companies probably won’t work with him cause they’re under contracts with labels that are now blackballing him. Am I off?

    yes you are off

buildup to coachella and the subsequent tour (could also argue the negative response to the parties made him step back and try to revise it in some way). btw ive already said multiple times itt that the three months of january to march were unacceptable fam

im just trying to provide context to people who seem to be perplexed as to why frank put his rollout on hold, as if nearly every single aspect wasn’t going to take place in real life spaces such as festivals/concerts, pop-up parties and vinyl production/shipping companies

That’d be an issue if he was gunning for that #1 spot. Frank barely does promo, interviews, merch drops or drops singles.

People said that he’d get black listed for pulling that FYF Festival move couple years back and 3 years later he was headlining every major festival in the world and was going to be doing Coachella.

Any artist who Frank wants to work with will work with him, he’s not working with some B list guys who have no say.

The vinyl issue, as bad as it is, it’s an industry standard amongst many artists. Jai Paul’s vinyl hasn’t shipped and it’s been a year, Cole’s vinyl took more than 8 months. The issue is that there’s only a handful of manufacturers and so much more demand.

Frank will be fine, no one is blacklisting him. Even if they do, not like bro is submitting Grammy nominations or needing validation. He has a very secure and set team around him, has access to the best photographers, producers.

I’ll clarify, I don’t know for sure that he’s blacklisted. But to a certain extent, it’s very possible. And i think fans need to cut him way more slack as one of, if not THE largest artist acting completely independently.

you do know he still has a team right? just cus he’s independent doesnt mean he’s literally doing everything by himself lol

  • May 29, 2020

He could disappear for years off the strength of Blonde and Endless. He’s a modern D’Angelo/Jill Scott, he’s worth the wait

Blacklisted in what sense though? What I can understand from your post is that it’s more of the business side which yeah is possible but so are a lot of things in the industry. I mean he recruited XL Recordings who are perhaps the largest indie record label in the world to press the Blonde vinyl, I feel like he’s just trying to half ass it rather than cough up his own money to get a big label again.

But if you follow Frank you’ll know it’s always been like this. Super secretive, veil of lack of communication and just overall stubbornness (which doesn’t make it okay) but it comes with the territory. There’s stories of the guy just being an absolute perfectionist/picky f***.

lol I’ve been following. Can’t get as into it as I was in 2015 tho or my health will decline.

Idk, I think there is probably more merit to doing it yourself than just money, if you can manage to do it. We’ll see how it pans out I guess. It’s easy for me to be rooting for him cause I didn’t spend any money this time.
