Just used a bunch of spotify stats and ran them through spotify royalty rates. And I did say "monthly" lol

its tough to get even close without real streaming numbers but I'll run you through a basic calculation

as of rn Frank Ocean has 13.8 million monthly listeners. This isn't streams per month this is unique listeners. To lowball we can use this as streams per month on Spotify. Apple streams for rap/hip-hop etc tend to be the same or more than Spotify so we'll double this and just round to 30 million per month - still on the low side given that it doesn't include tidal, GPM, YouTube etc and its only monthly unique listeners it doesn't account for anyone who listens to more than one frank ocean song

This is a lowball estimate.

Let's assume Frank is keeping around $0.30 of every dollar - probably on the lower side since he owns his masters but he does have to pay producers and etc. Generally you can say that 1500 streams are equal to around $10 so in this case $3 for frank for every 1500 streams.

30,000,000/1500=20,000

20000*3= $60,000 per month

that's on the low side of what it likely is

This is a dumb OP. Literally countless indie artists (99% of them with less resources than Frank) manage to release regularly and get all their s***s including vinyls sold and delivered. It’s 2020, not the 60s

The thing is I don’t think he was happy with the album and the reception of the singles, so he decided to keep working on it. The music isn’t ready. Everything else is fairly easy to handle.
