At Your Best
I think the show would've been passable. Short, but the backlash is coming from how poorly paced the show was and the very weird DJ set in the middle of the show.
To me the biggest issue was starting an hour late. Imagine there was another hour of performance time - it wouldāve made the DJ set feel like an interlude and it wouldnāt have been as big a detriment to the set. But the DJ and then Nikes / Nights mp3 version combined with losing an hour of performance time was a huge problem
Iām calling it right now weekend 2 wonāt be streamed either, see you niggas on IG live in a week
Of course heās not streaming. He wonāt be performing and heās disappearing from music forever
When he tried, he was sounding better than Iāve ever heard him before. For reference, I was front row at Wayhome in 2017 and he sounded immaculate last night.
Visuals were really pretty, I really need to know what camera they were using it looked cinematic.
Set list was definitely a tribute to his brother. Crack Rock, Iceman, Wiseman, White Ferrari all deal with loss (the first three very vividly).
I immediately thought of Andre 3000ās Coachella performance with the jumpsuit. He said the songs they were performing were old so he couldnāt say/do anything new therefore the messages allowed him to reinvent.
Frank brought something new to songs he made years and years ago but Iām not sure if this was the stage to do it? Coachella isnāt really a experimental festival, itās the capital of flex and stripping down songs like Pink + White which went viral online, not even singing Nights, Nikes + not doing Lost is a big statement to that surge in popularity.
It was melancholic, bizarre, yet like everything he does oddly beautiful and unpredictable.
Yāall kill me with this bullshit

I just realized lots of people legit paid thousands of dollars just to see Frank Ocean last night, like thats the only reason they came
I was there. I don't regret it cause when the 10 songs he performed sounded incredible. Plus I got to see Jai Paul

Yeah he sounded great on Crack Rock especially. Solo + White Ferrari reworks were incredible. I found it hilarious that he added drums to these two but decided to strip back P+W, a song that originally had drums. Didn't really like the rendition of P+W he did live as a result.
He got the setlist wrong on this one imo. It would work for just about any other show besides headlining coachella. Also the technical difficulties surrounding the show were glaring, seemed disorganized at times not to mention the late start. And it's just come out now that the set design went under major changes right before he hit the stage.
Not my issue
Are you Frank Ocean?
Prices gonna skyrocket once they announce Pitbull is headlining
damn had not considered that. bout to impulse buy them s***s

Pink + White was likely my favorite performance of last night. That's wild
Wahhh why doesnāt Frank feel bad about this wahhh
I didnāt say anything about Frank feeling bad I was saying its crazy niggas spent that much bread for that set
What is it that makes people make up arguments in their head? Like why is your brain like that?

I agree
Pacing was also a big issue
He took a lot of pauses between the songs with all the things you've listed.
He might've been trying to convey a raw aesthetic like the Blonde shows in 2017, but it just felt too in the moment.

Why is everyone talking about Mr. Beast?
