I always wonder if those studios like Electric Lady are actually worth the price or if itās just a cultural significance thing
It depends. I've worked in bigger & smaller studios. Places like Doppler have crazy equipment and antique SL boards. It really depends on what you're trying to do though.
Loved the version of Self Control he did. Would love an acoustic Frank album.
We do need new music soon though.
Yes but thatās why Iām getting at. Is that Frank had two separate projects in mind from the jump and finished each project as needed.
I disagree about the material itself, I think there are very distinct differences between Endless and Blonde that goes past just the way itās sequenced
Nikes aināt stream of consciousness? Both projects employ stream of consciousness lyrics with nostalgic poignant narratives. They āfitā on the projects theyāre on because thatās how you heard them lol. This is how they got put together and the execution really worked. But that doesnāt necessarily mean it was premeditated to go exactly that way from the beginning. We know that Mitsubishi Sony was meant for Blond so that should be enough to tell you right there. Itās hard to imagine with our idea of blonde today but it was intended that way at one point.
Blond wasnāt always Blond lol there was a process of it becoming what it became. That innocent storytelling on Slide On Me is so inseparable from the Blonde narrative for me. You play 5 on 5 3 times a week, park down the street. Evokes summer. So many lyrical moments on Endless that actually enhance the world of Blond for me. That suburbia got a yard part is the most Blond sounding s*** ever lol. The youth flashbacks of Alabama
Imagine Higgs finished with some strings, it could definitely fit as a late blonde track.
I thought Blonde was all done in LA/Malibu and London studios, and Endless was hotel rooms in Japan/Paris etc.
Could be 100% wrong tho
This is probably basically true but thereās a catch lol
The Blonde tracks were also originally recorded in those same hotel rooms along with the endless ones
Then the blonde tracks were selected as the songs to bring into the real studios and work on for the studio album
The hotel recordings that remained became Endless
The more I think about it the fewer problems I have with his performances
It was moreso the circumstances surrounding it and some nitty gritty like sequencing (DJ set shouldāve been in the beginning imo)

Iām not denying thereās overlap, Iām talking overall.
Endless overall is much more a stream of consciousness lyrically and thematically whereas Blonde overall is more focused. I think that was extremely intentional on Frankās part

I just think thatās part of the creative process
The strongest ideas end up being the ones chosen for the main album
The ones that are a little more wishy washy, less poignant and less essential to the vision get put on the more abstract b sides collection. So Blonde has better songwriting as a result of that.
Endless really is the greatest B side project of all time because the way of sequencing demos like that as a stream of conscious type experience is genius. It really does work in giving the project its own identity and makes the messiness and unfinished-ness seem intentional, so I kind of get why youāre so invested in the idea that itās so separate. But yeah itās blonde demos curated into a brilliant piece of art
didnt realize how many people really didnt listen to endless
It's not easily available to people. Most people don't want to download mp3s, or upload them on Apple Music, etc.

If the projects were created concurrently, then Endless wouldnāt just be Blonde demos, especially since Endless was released first.
I still think he had the ideas for both separate projects in mind from the jump, because that was his plan to get free from Def Jam anyway

It is easily available, itās just people donāt want to go through the effort of finding things and listening in

What I mean is that it's not easily available on streaming services. People now-a-days aren't going to go out of their way to download it, or play the video, unfortunately.

Everything outside of streaming is hard to get for most people
My wife loves Frank but has never listened to Endless or NU because itās not on streaming

oof. NU is a different story

NU has a special place in my heart, I never heard anything like it when it dropped

I've never heard of your wife because she ain't on streaming either.

You never heard of her because we do pretty well at keeping our life private
