this whole rollout happened in the midst of a very intense fling w someone who lived across the country

really couldn’t have timed out more perfectly especially given a lot of the subject matter even if it hurt a lot during that time

I hated this s*** when it came out, loved Endless from the jump though.

But yeah, what an album.

8 years later and I especially marvel at Ivy - to peel back the drums and make a dream pop/shoe gaze love ballad in 2016 on your return is commanding.

Any other artist would’ve slapped a drum kit, made a music video and sent it to radio. They still don’t know what genre that track really is, Wiki lists it as “Avant R&B”. The vocal pitching, layered air guitars and just beautiful heartfelt writing is meticulously packaged together - I find it to be the quintessential Frank Ocean track.
