Spoke with @mayday and hearing he's having a hard time with the movie. A lot of reshoots, and still casting for extras. He shoots, looks at the dailies and feels unsatisfactory then reshoots. They film for a couple of days until Frank backs out, and won't film again for weeks. He's really hard to work with and an unrealistic perfectionist - couple that with him being a first time director and you can probably imagine how much money has been sunk in it and the current dilemma.
His return will probably coincide with all these projects dropping like dominos but as of right now, the movie is a clear holdup. He's not retired and is really focused on music but also wants to get this project done to his standard.
I'm happy and heartbroken

This puts homer into perspective for me

I'm 100% sure this is going to be scrapped, like almost everything Frank is involved in
What i fail to realize is how tf is homer not scrapped if hes such a perfectionist. Ngl they are okay designs derivative of karim rashids design language. Its not worth the price point at all.
Its not received well at all by the general public/general fans either yet he forces it upon us.
And the stuff that he is/ could be great at and provides a valuable service with (music and film) while also being a useful, affordable, unique experience for the general public is never good enough apparently
Idk if im making any sense but i just dont get this dude.

Because perfectionist doesn’t mean he wants other people to think it’s perfect, he just needs to feel it’s perfect

True but at that point its like he really thinks those designs are the best he can do? Like doing research on industrial design/ jewelry design And hes like "this homer s*** fits right in with the best of it" is crazy.
Meanwhile the leaks from 2024 are god tier and would benefit society yet he scrapped them most likely for superfluous reasons.
Don wanna make a judgement on a dude i dont know but goddamn he sounds so warped.
Just venting my opinion tho cause i know this f***in movie aint coming out when its likely pretty great

I get the sense that with jewelry it feels like a fresh start, it's a medium that carries no expectations for him.
Music and video are two art forms he's much more well versed in as a creator so probably has higher expectations for his own achievements in those. Possibly.

But a new album + tour would sell much more.
Only thing is that requires much more effort
Literally could do 5 stadium shows (NYC, LA, CHI, London, Paris) 90 minute show, nearly 8hrs of work total, take home easy $20m after tax and that’s if he keeps average ticket price below $200 which I’m sure he could charge more
But nah ugly jewelry for crazy prices and less profit and nothing musical or affordable at all

Those shows would come with expectations of new music so won't happen until after new music drops

He could run NY / LA show b2b2b you know them niggas would turn up in flocks and easily sell that out
Actually a FO tour in general has the capacity to be incredibly successful off his unique position of being an artist who doesn’t pop out whatsoever meaning people have an even larger incentive to pay whatever for a show (myself included admittedly)
Was one that was meant to happen in 2020 btw based off some comments from a festival/ event organizer in 2019
Homer is an interesting avenue/passion project. The recent expansion to London / LA brick and mortar stores is impressive in this age of digital retail
I think there is a force in his process with the jewelry that drives him in the same way photog/art/film does so I can respect or at least understand the why of it
