Frank tells us, "It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon."

Yeah, the Nikes video should not be hidden. He's always been very strange.

Wow, ten years later I can hear the different mix in the second part. I remembered that the first part had the heavy voice.

  • I've heard this album an absurd amount over the 10 years but there's still bars I harp on every now and then

    Lately its been "That's why I'm in this b**** wearing a f***ing yarmulke"... 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Thank you! I’ll share when I can for sure :)

Separate from the music itself, the interregnum between Channel Orange and Blonde remains one of the most fascinating dead-air stretches in modern music. I’m often reminded of the cryptic breadcrumbs, and lore that much of the newer fanbase will never fully inherit. You can comb through archived articles or disappear into Reddit threads, but so much of that era survives only in half-remembered anecdotes and forum mythology, preserved by a handful of us who refreshed Tumblr dashboards, Twitter and KTT daily.

There are countless stories from that era that exist largely outside the searchable internet. Much of what defined that period lives in the collective memory of the people who followed it in real time: how his Pemberton performance was obsessed over because of that line on “Hero,” his dinner with Chassol in Paris, the now-lost Arena Homme+ cover story, or the hashtag change on the original Boys Don’t Cry announcement.

There’s dozens more of these little stories and trivia that I could conjure up but I just wanted to thank any of the OGs that are still around here for keeping the thread alive and continuing to be apart of a very small % of a much bigger community.

On another note, they’re editing the reshoots that took place last year and if you look at any past album release, he’s always wanted to “win” before he dropped ☺️.

Talking about Chassol, he recently talked about this era in a interview (in french)

For him, to say to the people who cared about and supported his music and made him rich over the years ‘yes, I am now retired’ or ‘I still intend to release music one day’ would it pain him that much?

Cause just some clarity would be nice after all this time so I don’t sometimes fantasize about a fantasy Frank Ocean album that doesn’t exist

    Hello Quinn,

I do not think Frank is retired!

Atp, he probably has a ton of music that could equate to 3 full albums, singers are often writing or making music.

There is an artist thats alot better than Frank Ocean and also disappeared for an extended time
    his name is Allan Kingdom

Even baby keem just disappeared and made one of the best albums this year! I'm sure frank will surprise drop but not before gta 6.

  • Ivy: one of the best breakup songs ever. Annoyingly with last weeks technical difficulties couldn’t touch on how cool the mag version of Nikes with Kohh is + few other tail ends of Nikes discourse.

Open forum for any song on Blonde though tbh so post away in any case 🥂

Final late late night thought while Ivy week commences:

Think my absolute favorite version of this track is the live version he played at Way Out West with a full orchestra in support. Strings mirrored melody, sounded so gorgeous.

I’ve only remembered seeing this short clip of the version, hoping to find the full thing
