State's Witness #24: Officer Collins and State's Witness #25: GBI employee Karpf testified regarding d*** and gun possession by Slug in 2015.
Next witness was State's Witness #26: Doug Evans, a professional weed tester for the APD. Same incident.
State's Witness #27: Officer May
Testimony will be related to 2015 incident of Young Thug saying "imma shoot you" to a mall cop in the mall parking lot after he got kicked out.
As a result of the incident, Officer May was getting threats online through social media by fans.
State is trying to elicit testimony of this. Steel is objecting to this testimony being allowed, since he's not been given any evidence of any social media threats and he argues it's inadmissible hearsay.
The judge overrules Steel's objection but will limit the witness from going into detail about the threats or that they were made by unknown people.
May said they tried to tell individuals that they were not allowed to use hoverboards inside the mall.
One of them told May, "F*** you, I'm leaving," before they got on the escalators on the hoverboard.
May along with other officer continue to follow the three individuals involved, including Young Thug, throughout the mall until they got to the outside area.
When they got into their vehicle, May alleges Young Thug said, “I’m going to come back here and shoot you in the face.”
May said he then stepped back and called Dunwoody PD. They went back to the Champs to try to identify those involved.
The manager of Champs told him one of the three individuals was Young Thug. May googled him and recognized Young Thug as the man who threatened him.
Surveillance video of the whole incident was shown to the jury inside the courtroom.
Young Thug's attorney Brian Steel is cross-examining May now. He wants to go back through the video and ask May questions about it.
Steel questioned May about the fact that none of the other security officers from the mall at the scene say that Young Thug made the threat, even though May claims the rapper made it.
Going back to the alleged social media threats, May said that he never notify Dunwoody PD or any other police department about those social media threats.
May said he didn't call the police after the alleged social media threats, after doing some research on Young Thug and realizing how famous he was. He decided to just leave it and move on.
We are done with officer Christopher May's testimony. He won't be called back to testify by the state.
We are done for the day, as well.
Judge Glanville is once again telling jurors to let the court know if anyone tries reaching out to them and to stay off social media sites.
We'll be back on Monday Dec. 11 at 9:30 a.m.
