Cro how did this get out lol
Judge Ural Glanville just told the jury that court was cancelled last week because he began feeling sick after court on Tuesday.
The state wants to play the video of Slug accepting his plea to the jury to possibly impeach him, since he implied to the jury that he was pressured into taking it.
The State is now reading text messages between Young Thug and alleged members of YSL, with Slug confirming each text message that was sent years ago.
The State is now bring Young Thug's lyrics from his song, "Droppin Jewels", while examining Slug.
She is trying to make the connection between the songs and being "Truly Humbled Under God", which Young Thug's attorney said Thug stands for.
The State is asking Slug about Young Thug using some of Slug's life experiences in his songs.
Slug said Young Thug was rapping about the fact Slug used to sell d**** and carry guns but nothing specific.
When asked why he didn't rap about it himself and make the money, Stephens said, “I didn’t have the talent.”
The State are now showing the jury a video of Trontavious Stephen's plea deal hearing, which he took back in December 2022.
The video is about 20 minutes long.
In the video:
Slug pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to violate the state’s racketeer influenced and corrupt organizations (RICO) act.
Slug acknowledged he is one of the founders of YSL, or Young Slime Life. Walter Murphy and Atlanta rapper Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, are accused of founding the alleged gang.
Jury has been sent away on a lunch break.
The video of Young Thug's Tiny Desk performance of "Droppin Jewels" is now being played in court to determine whether it can be played in front of the jury.
The state is objecting to this specific performance being played in front of the jury and objecting to the logo being shown to the jury.
Attorney Brian Steel tried to introduce an interview Young Thug did years ago in which he talks about being "Truly Humbled Under God". Steel said it was the state who opened the door to be able to bring these videos in during Stephens' examination.
The State Prosecutor saying that Steel actually "opened the door" about Truly Humbled Under God when he mentioned it during his opening statement.
Attorney Brian Steel is arguing that the state took the lyrics from “Droppin Jewels” out of context when they read them during the examination.
Steel argued for about five minutes about why he should be allowed to introduce the video of the song performance.
Judge Glanville took it under advisement and left the courtroom to make a decision on whether the video can be played.
Judge Glanville has ruled that he won't admit the videos (Young Thug's Tiny Desk performance of "Droppin Jewels" and his interview video) and can't be played for the jury at this time.
Brian Steel is going through the same lyrics the State went through with Slug but after every question, the State is objecting, with Glanville granting most of the objections.
Steel asked Trontavious Stephens if Sergio aka Gunna had committed any crimes in furtherance of the alleged gang YSL.
“I don’t have any knowledge," Slug said about Gunna committing crimes.
After days of testimony, Slug's testimony has been completed, for now, but he is subject to being recalled.
Officer Nicholas Reed is the next witness
He is testifying regarding overt act 61, which deals with an armed robbery co-defendant Christian Eppinger was allegedly involved in.
Eppinger was a minor at the time of the incident.
(Eppinger was severed from the case after it was revealed he had a relationship with a courtroom deputy.)
