    yeah.

it would make sense music industry wise.

But also, maybe we reading too deep into it. Earn really might just be the greatest manager ever.

Rewatched with my friend and the first thing he said was "is he lying" and I totally overlooked it. I'm hoping he isn't. I feel like when he was lying to Al in the previous seasons it was to protect him because they were on the come up and I'm hoping because they aren't on the come up that Earn has nothing to lie about. So hopefully, he's telling the truth.

“Whatever happens just know I love you very much”
Damn that foreshadowing. It’s like Darius is telling him “you’re bout to get high af and realize the truth about me but just know I’m not just around just cus. I truly love you and loyal to you”

    Nah this episode brilliant af

    what was that truth?

    edit;
    oooo
    that hes a s*** friend
even said he loved him but left him shivering

10/10 ep and probably my fav episode of the show

  • Oscar Winner

Just rewatched again and noticed at the start the bum on the ground tripping wit the goofy hat

  • Motifs like the goofy hat are so sick like idk what’s so creepy & unsettling about that but it’s a perfect choice

That Liam Neesan moment might possibly be the best subversion of the series so far. They framed it like a meta wink and nod moment of him apologizing, only to pull the wool at the last minute.

The crazy thing is how many idiotic people online didn't understand the subversion and think Liam Neeson is genuinely a racist POS believing he has nothing to learn.

    Didn't think of that.

But this episode also has parallels to Woods

    • Al was chased by a dangerous group of dudes because they recognize who he is (btw Al probably has PTSD from the season 2 attack, which is why he panicked so much while he was being chased)

    • Al confronts his insecurities while alone and lost, and both times his mother's precense is felt

Also it's Episode 8. Same placement as Woods. Totally not a coincidence.

Woods was Al realizing he had to sacrifice being his pride/"being real" to maintain his success and fame.

New Jazz was Al realizing he has to be more active roles in making sure the people closest to him are looking out for him.

When he checks if Earn did the right thing by him and Earn did

The ep's themes are kinda about how Al's taking a backseat approach to who he's around and he's realizing he's being passive in letting others get the drop on him/make decisions for him.

Darius is a great guy and a loyal friend to Al, but Darius has done several things this season and in the show to indicate that sometimes he's only really interested in his own s***. Darius convinces Al not to backup his phone so it becomes a huge deal when it gets lost, but Darius only really cares about exploring his "secret map". The whole intro to this episode is Darius not actually listening to anything Al is saying and just being like "mhm".

Guy loves Al and their friendship shouldn't be in jeopardy or anything, but Al needs to step up his game and double check on s*** - even with those he cares about most. Similar to how he checks with Earn about the masters and finds out Earn has his back.

Let's pretend the show never existed. Do ya'll think if Season 2 or 3 was compressed together into a 2 hour film it would be dope? Only take the episodes that the main cast is in, and maybe take about 20 minutes of each episodes so it equals to around 2 hours.

Like a surreal type hangout film that doesn't really feel like its going anywhere plot wise. Or does Atlanta only work as a show.

i really like how they subtly show how annoyed Al is becoming with Darius

Too disjointed as a movie IMO. Works much better episodically. The writers could write a sick movie though I bet

It would be disjointed af but also extremely funny and weird

Lets see how it would play out:

It would start with Paperboy getting out of jail and Earn handling the tour s*** and them skipping the show.

Then the gang going to the rich party

Then Paperboy performing and tryna find his phone

Then Paperboy being assigned to apologize for the fashion nigga while Darius and Earn go on they side stories

Then Paperboy and Darius doing d**** around Amsterdam

and then however this s*** concludes

It could work. It's not really that disjointed when you think about it, it's more so just different things they did while overseas. Could be similar to the movie "Everybody wants some" or Spring breakers and other hangout movies that isn't really plot based.

I liked this episode overall. There were some things I cringed at, or was just confused about. But that's what I expect from the show. To feel something lol, so this week accomplished that.

I remember Donald once saying that Adventure Time was a huge inspiration for the structure of the show and it feels like this season more than any other that influence has been made apparent

    What makes you say this?
