Finale was great.
So that old John was kinda like a hallucination since he threw away the cross and fully became devoted to Toranaga and the Japanese and will never return to England
Interesting ending quite good. This was Tobunagas story afterall. I liked Yabushiges point that this is somewhat the story of the "unsung" heroes that sacrificed their life for him to become Shogun.
The IRL dude John's based off of also never went back to England, tho they did allow him to sail around a couple times, he always came back to Japan. He would send money back to England for his kids.
This show BETTER get the love it deserves this award season, because s*** like this doesn’t come around often.
Truly beautiful finale. The script alone was fantastic. The acting. The shots. They killed it all across the board.
Great, great show.
Show was not for idiots cooked minds with low attention spans.
This was truly a masterpiece
Toranaga is a MASTERMIND!
Original Aizen
Finale was very mid right? Felt like we werent rewarded at all. All that build up to be left with blue balls.
Didn't even leave anything to be excited for next season.
I felt a tiny bit of that but its still solid

This is a miniseries, there isn't going to be a next season
damn this finished? time to watch the rest soon
Started this series about 2 weeks ago, and i finally finished.
imo i am actually surprised that this show has been getting so much acclaim from the majority who've seen it i.e. the 99% score on RT. Not because i don't think the show is that good, because it really IS that good, and i genuinely think it's a MASTERPIECE, but i also believe that it is so easy for "the average western tv show viewer" to misinterpret this show for what it is.
What i mean by that, is that the initial marketing/trailer of the show pretty much leads people to believe that this is gonna be some ultra action epic war story, and on top of that i'm sure everyone has also seen the parallels made to game of thrones. So i'd figure there'd be a bit more disappointed/angry people at the show, once they realize it isn't that kind of show at all.
At the same time i feel like once the viewer realizes it is not that type of show, the beauty and depth of Shogun is realized.

I think people just naturally pick up when something is this well written. Once the stage is set the characters shine in every scene. It doesnt matter if John interacts with Mariko, Yabushige, Fuji, Toranaga, Buntaro or any other characters. Every dialogue brings something new and has a certain tension and entertainment value.
Pretty good show Torunaga slick
Was funny to see my backyard near Vancouver standing in so well for Japan

I do love the toranaga reveal at the end that he's just as power hungry as everyone else. Him revealing his true colors was the best part of his character.
Really think that ending could've used an extra 10 or 15 minutes.

Elric cameo would've hit like crack
