She got paid, she’s looking for residuals
Ahhhh i can’t read
Yeah man she gotta get that s*** in writing damn…
Spoken conversation ain’t enough to secure that

For sure, contracts are so important and I definitely believe she deserves residuals
you don’t do any of those three things at all lol. you actively s*** on and disparage anything that isn’t Drake related + have no actual understanding of hip hop history nor music period and you’re a CRACKER
Christmas miracle

Same, So many times the album cover adds special significance to an album (i think i said that weird but u know what i mean), people that are the face of it deserve to be compensated more when that s*** succeeds
Entertainment industry as a whole as we’ve even seen this year with the long writers strike is wild with slimy business
My man shorted the black woman out of her money but made sure the white one got paid. That def sounds like some Donald Glover s***
Was Tyler Perry right when he said Atlanta was made for white people
Was Tyler Perry right when he said Atlanta was made for white people
It wasn’t not made for white people
I’m slow but wouldn’t the lady who took the pictures of her be responsible for paying her not Gambino?
the label would be responsible. they’d likely own the image and facilitated the shoot
because of that, coupled with the fact that AML was his last release on that label, i can easily understand why his lawyers didn’t concern themselves with it. and i can definitely imagine donald never even heard about this
i hope this story getting traction leads to her getting some sort of retroactive payment
I am. If you love, respect and know the history of it you are welcome
C***From The Six back at it again
This is how you know he's a cornball

Your avi running around with a black neonazi for clout rn let’s relax
This nigga had a made-up interview where he asked some weird question about black women. I wouldn't put the f***shit past him
Crazy how this went over people's heads completely People were already talking s*** about his feelings towards black women, you can see it ITT. The question was poking fun at those people, but yall still just using it against him like the question came out of nowhere
next time a story breaks out where an artist scams a model gambino gonna tweet out "i love being influential"
I love Donald and Atlanta, he/they made a weird black woman joke on the drake episode. I can see how folk wanna hold him accountable for this
But I don’t think Donald just hates black women for the sake of it
What was the joke on the Drake episode? If you're referring to Van's friend getting pissed about a black male celeb being with a white woman - that also didn't come out of nowhere. It's something he'd been facing criticism for, hella black male celebs do whenever they step outside their race. Even Kendrick Lamar, who is married to a lightskin woman, had to deal with it
lmao sampling is an inherent part of hip-hop
the idea that he can’t be influenced by sly and Clinton without it being “ripping off” is deeply hilarious in the overall context of hip-hop production
1. There's sampling and then there's just copying a sound. Albums like AML and Let's Start Here are rightfully criticized for being too derivative
2. That's not a hip-hop album
He very much gives “black women bullied me” energy. His Asian woman fetish is one thing, but he’s done a lot of corny jokes at the expense of black women on top of that weird self interview he did talking about black women. I usually cringe when people try to pull this card as a reach, but in his case it’s too much going against him to say it isn’t true at this point
I'm a fan of his stuff, but this is facts.
this is f***ed up and they need to give her what she was promised but this is not something that childish gambino himself would be handling lol.
like this is label s***. niggas acting like he supposed to be personally writing her a check. that’s not his job.

Sampling is quite literally copying and pasting sounds, and then building off of that as a foundation. A lot of music in general is like that in a macro sense.
I didn’t mean to imply it was a hip-hop album but he’s a hip-hop artist who adopted a different sound in an equivalent way to how sampling builds new sounds in hip-hop
As to your first point, I think calling stuff “too derivative” as if that’s inherently negative is such a lame art critic thing to say, cause really everything is different levels of derivative and it’s silly to draw a line in a sand and say certain albums cross it.
Some albums are bad and too derivative, but I wouldn’t say it’s because of the latter, they’re just bad. Gambino and drake and a lot of artists were quite derivative of Kanye, and Kanye of dre, dilla, outkast and tribe, and so on and so forth
Also you gotta look at AML through the lens of his discography, it was clearly him just experimenting and evolving as an artist, because you can hear on 3.15.20 that’s a blend of aml and bti, and it felt more like bino for that reason

you are one of the worst posters on this site and my point flew over your head til that s*** was in space

It wasn’t not made for white people
It’s definitely overstated and used as a way to discredit someone
