I’m not putting the entire brunt of the housing situation on landlords whatsoever, it’s a systematic oppression facilitated by the government and the control it allows over ppl to own private property both individually and on a corporate level while creating the circumstances of those in generational poverty with no upward mobility. It’s a product of capitalism and a critical component in keeping it alive, the housing market in america only exists for people to make money off of allowing others to use property. It’s utilized as a tool against the poor and oppressed through methods like gentrification, red lining, artificially inflating housing prices in areas, a million things. Landlords represent an individual element of a much larger systematic issue, but their impact can be zeroed in on and their individual role in the oppression of the houseless
