Cause they’re ED and would rather be given handouts instead of making an effort to fix their life. They’d rather the government come save them

At the end of the day in a capitalist system life for most people is boiled down to working everyday of your life for shelter and food. Literally work to survive and nothing else and if you want an education, f*** you.

And mfs still worshiping billionaires in exchange for slave wages huh?

It is absolutely the governments fault. Lmfao what???? Both can be at fault. I’m not putting the entire brunt of the housing situation on landlords whatsoever, it’s a systematic oppression facilitated by the government and the control it allows over ppl to own private property both individually and on a corporate level while creating the circumstances of those in generational poverty with no upward mobility. It’s a product of capitalism and a critical component in keeping it alive, the housing market in america only exists for people to make money off of allowing others to use property. It’s utilized as a tool against the poor and oppressed through methods like gentrification, red lining, artificially inflating housing prices in areas, a million things. Landlords represent an individual element of a much larger systematic issue, but their impact can be zeroed in on and their individual role in the oppression of the houseless

Speaking of gaslighting, when did i say anything remotely close to that i was getting mad that “the government won’t tell private citizens they can’t rent the guest room in their home”. Cus i would love to know

You definitely put the brunt of the entire housing crisis on landlords in your reply to me. And none of you even mentioned the Government prior to me entering this thread and I explicitly telling you that the Government is primarily responsible for failing its people and allowing this to get out of hand. So when you disregard my post, and then drop an entire soliloquy about how homeless people and landlords exclusively that had nothing to do with what I said, then yeah, I'm going to call it gaslighting.

The Housing Market exists because... Housing costs money. Thats really it

When I say the Government should provide Housing, that doesn't mean those houses are literally free.

Red lining, Gentrification(??????????????????????????? Are you just shoving negative housing related things into this sentence? None of these are related to the housing shortage we are currently facing), and housing prices fell last year but I don't really disagree with the latter. However, most of this isn't really relevant. Gentrification is a problem due to displacement of the poor and isn't necessarily some intentional moral failing.
Like you realize the LGBTQ community has been cited in studies as early gentrifiers. They too are oppressed, its not some moral failing on their part that they moved to a neighborhood and it spiked the property tax. Gentrification isn't really akin to Redlining which is a str8 up discriminatory housing practice.

Landlords have their own issues in regards to abuse of tenants and etc because of obvious power dynamics. If you have a landlord you have a house. Your argument has been that Landlords not just giving away private property whether they rent the first floor of their own or a separate building is inherently an abuse of the homeless. Of course Landlords can abuse Tenants but this is why legislation and organizations vouching for tenant rights exists.

Neither of these things are actually necessary

All I'm saying is, you can call landlords leeches or parasite idrc. But these threads don't even focus on the main issue which is the Government. We can literally do things to mitigate the housing shortage now.

There will always be a market for landlords provided someone wants to live somewhere that isn't a hotel or motel for a couple years. And America isn't going to stop you from renting out your own property.

What we can do is mitigate the amount of people who are perma renters living with families of 4 by expanding public housing projects

Like in the OP, the government didn't help this poor girl 1 cent. What are they paying taxes for?

No moratorium during a pandemic, no unemployment assistance, etc etc

Americans pay taxes and get spat on lol

and in 2021, not the 60's, there are many ways to find some boots.

i'm not referring to homeless in this post or 3rd world countries. Because i don't have a solution to that. It's horrible how the government lets its people down in that aspect. I don't have answer for that though.

im speaking on the average american who struggles paycheck to paycheck.

discipline with time and money will take you far.

if you get off work at 5, you have about 4 hours free. do you come home decompress and watch netflix/youtube all night? or do you study a skill that will get you paid eventually.

and if you gotta be at work by 9, don't wake up at 7:30. wake up at 5, now you just added an extra 7 hours to your day.

    it's about delayed gratification.

in no way do i think people are out here not trying to make it. i do think, they could try a smarter way.

previously i mentioned this idea in another thread and i was given the response "poor people can't enjoy life???" well if you're poor, not being poor should be top priority, not non essentials

    I'm a first responder I work 24 hours a shift.
Sometimes like my previous shift I'm running 17 calls a shift. That's a lot. I stay up the entire 24 a significant amount of time.
Under the current system I can afford to live with another person an hour from where I work. With all that in mind I make a little bit below 15 an hour. Coming home and relaxing shouldn't be penalized and I should make a better wage. System is broke.

Also the average person should not have to dedicate all their time to trying not to be poor. It's a s*** existence.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I have two jobs.

Thank you for your service first of all, and I’m not saying it should penalized. I do believe it shouldn’t be in excess if financially you are not where you want to be.
I think being poor is a s*** existence too though lmao . So at least with focusing on not being poor, you’re working towards something instead of sitting in that s***

EDIT: plus, if you on ktt majority of your free time (hypothetical) when you not working 24 hours cut that time In half and do something productive. ( if you are not happy with where you are at )

What I'm trying to convey is that "doing something productive" at all times is a capitalist myth meant to keep poor people spinning their wheels.
I work two jobs and if I want to spend time being on KTT, watching anime I should be able to do so. Poor people should have free time. Me talking to my family isn't "productive" it doesn't make anyone money and that's okay.

I’m not saying it’s not okay bro, I said in excess, “free time” is not good if you are not happy in your current financial situation .
