People give Ja his flowers. It’s just like Bow wow, we acknowledge what they did in the past but since becoming washed up they’ve become so corny and did a lot of weird s*** that killed their reputation forever.
He was making songs with a very strict formula for sure. Jam Master Jay taught him. I don't think 50 was a naturally gifted rapper and musician. Just so ambitious it was impossible to block him.
With Candy Shop the general public probably went from seeing him as a gangsta to something closer to a Pitbull/Flo Rida type rapper.
More like Ja Rule, he even found his own "Ashanti" in Olivia

Ja was way bigger than Bow though. He was up there with Jay and DMX.

Both ja and bow wow was going triple platinum
He was hated because em and 50 stans shifted the narrative on him during the beef and labeled him a singer not a real rapper and clowned him for s*** like doing e which every rapper was doing back then.
They just successfully pushed that narrative into the mainstream that he wasn't a real mc or worthy of respect
I still don't get why Ja was so hated, would appreciate if an OG could shed some light on this situation. From what I gathered he was just unlucky to belong to the wrong crews at the wrong time.
It was literally just a case of the hottest rapper at the time (50) calling him out and turning the streets against him, that combined with his worst album dropping at the time the beef really kicked off (last temptation) and it was a wrap! Ja was hard when he came out though, would’ve loved to have got the intended album with him jay and DMX he also stuck far too much to the same formula, female RnB hook on a radio friendly song
50 really told Ja Rule he was singing too much, while literally coming out the gate since the mixtapes singing himself.
The fact 50 somehow got that off shows just how dumb we can be sometimes as fans

Was Ja innovative with that female R&B singer duet s*** or did he run with what another rapper started?

Nah I know. I’m saying, how you act post prime can effect how people see your career. Niggas loved Bow Wow back in the day and now he’s a joke to us. Game is going down that road too.
if not for the feds, ja dont have that big a fall though. A lot of it was bad timing.
Also he tried to go the gangsta route with blood in my eye and that backfired (even tho clapback's a bop)
50 had that nigga with the minister waving the white flag
-After blackballing a nigga from the game
"who has filled most of our lives with hits on hits."
he hasn't dropped a hit in my lifetime

I think he was following the kinda formula that bad boy had done with Mariah Carey’s honey remix and a couple of others tbh, I don’t think anyone adhered to that formula as much as him though tbh I semi f***ed with him
Back in the day but I always found those type of tracks a bit of a put off je did better in the 50 beef than people would have you believe though, he even went for the jugular with Eminem calling out his mother and daughter
Both ja and bow wow was going triple platinum
He also lasted much longer, Bow didn't fall off till the late 00s.

This is 50 before he met Jay. He was naturally gifted as a rapper. Jay taught him how to make songs, structure his rhymes and how to make good hooks.
i'd argue that's the case for most rappers at the highest level
or at least they make it seem that way
