An era
Love Don’t Cost a Thing beach dance scene music
"who has filled most of our lives with hits on hits."
he hasn't dropped a hit in my lifetime
“Most” =\= all
Candy Shop lowkey killed his career
It was a huge song but yeah nobody looked at 50 the same way again
Yeah this is it here
like man why are you making a worse version of Magic Stick?
At least Disco Inferno was a pretty nice song, but even then that was a worse version of On Fire. I know some people say The Massacre's a classic but for me that was one of the most disappointing albums ever on release for me.
Was just like man what the f*** happened? I need to revisit it though.
but tbh I was never a fan of Ja
From the beginning he always felt like a DMX biter, and I know he did well commercially with the Rap&Bullshit songs but man was always trash.
edit: linked the wrong song
ja rule had such a monster run in the late 90s mid 2000s its crazy he changed his style up and went with the r&b/hip hop sound after being compared to dmx all the time.
Wow that's extremely ironic considering 50 was given the same treatment by Nas/Wu Tang/Jada/etc a few years later lmao
You talking about that lame ass gza diss nobody heard?
Jada and them bodied 50 tho
That nas s*** was kinda seeing how he was just hating...
I still think Ja Rule is kinda lame for unrelated things but you can't deny he ran the radio the late 90's/early 2000's.
He deserves his respect.
Ja rule and Ashanti in the studio is an instant hit
Thats why i always look at hov and nas as lame for hating on 50 and cam.... but when jeezy was at the radio station talking wild s*** about nas, nas didn’t say s*** back..
Him, Hov and X were the original big 3. Ja had a respectable 5 year run (98-03) most rappers today can't say they had that
I never liked Ja’s music at any point in time but he is deff overheated. People act like he never was one of the biggest acts in that early 2000s era
You can’t be talking about rule 3:36 because i had that and it was ass minus the singles and casual songs

Can I Get A.. video was the dopes.. yeah I'm washed

The Massacre is tricky because the singles(minus Outta Control) were blatantly generic and watered down and Gatman and Robin was straight trash but 50 showed a lot of versatility in the album cuts, probably more than GRODT.
The production aged slightly better too imho.
He’s not actually hated. The 50 beef made him appear slightly corny but Murder Inc as a label got destroyed due to the feds investigation. Also the sound of hip hop changed from that pop sounds to more gangster music brought on by the 50 era.
His era was simply done. Along with the likes of Nelly.
This. @Goo I’d also like to add that I remember there was a short period in time when people accused Ja of biting DMX’s style and there being a small rift between the two because of it
You can’t be talking about rule 3:36 because i had that and it was ass minus the singles and casual songs
I skimmed through his first three albums and none of them sounded good

Oh so you f*** with TLT

lol he had a respectable run but there was no "big 3" in that era like there is now, and if there was, ja wasn't in it.
like Nelly, Luda, and Outkast were just as big or bigger than ja was was when he peaked.
