the homophobia has made me so mad. every IG/Twitter/Youtube/Online ad for this is littered with annoying ass comments
and the content is naturally (and sadly) going to slice the box office solely because its a gay story
but sadly i think there are other reasons it did super bad at play too. Pandemic has definitely conditioned people to wait until smaller budget, 'non cinematic' movies are on VOD. Comedies themselves even pre pandemic don't really hit the same business wise.
And i also don't think gay people are gonna watch something 100% because its gay. i do, but Most of my gay friends just don't really like Billy or didn't think the trailer looked that funny
but i wanna watch it & i do wish it did wayy better

They got s*** too but I think for some reason gay drama’s and artsy movies are an easier pill to swallow for audiences than straight up rom coms with gay leads

Makes sense, I think cus those movies have an element of being “forbidden” especially like Broke back Mountain. Whereas this movie seems to be unapologetic about their sexuality

I’ll be watching Wednesday but I do gotta say with everyone I’ve talked to that’s gay billy has always been super divisive comedic wise. Not sure he was the best pick to star in a rom com, I think Bowen Yang would’ve been much more charming but I do know he’s in this movie as a side character. Being bi, Part of me feels happy to see a fully gay rom com but I’ve also never been the biggest billy fan so I’m not so sure what I’ll think. Reviews have me excited tho!

Looks more like one of those cookie cutter Ashton Kutcher or Matthew mcchaunahay rom coms from the early 2000s only with gay characters played by no name actors

It actually makes me wanna go see it. Not cus of the tweets but being the sales are low. I’m all for representation, even tho I’m straight I am black and obviously understand representation is important on every end of the field.
