Letā€™s see: Diamond album with Dookie & another Diamond album with American Idiot, released 10 years apart. Plus a ton of great singles & songs on other albums. You buggin if you think theyā€™re trash

Thereā€™s a reason Green Day despite having so many releases are only hailed for Dookie and occasionally American Idiot, which are admittidley both very GOOD albums. Everything else is either just SO forgettable and just unremarkable (Nimrod...Really?21st century breakdown? wtf) or Audio Terrorism in itā€™s purest forms (Uno dos Tre, Their newest s***)
Time of your life saved their career once and they couldnt even capitalize on that until wave riding the ENTIRE emo wave with American Idiotā€™s era nearly a decade later

You could say the same about a ton of other artists tho that are mainly only recognized for one work. Example Nas Illmatic. They still got two classic albums & thatā€™s hard as f*** to accomplish, let alone just one classic album

Also, Iā€™m curious about this, why do you write off American Idiot as ā€œcapitalizing on the Emo Wave?ā€

If you only heard Broken Dreams, I could see that. But that album came out at a special time during the Bush era, and the politically charged songs of American Idiot & Holiday resonated with so many ppl during that time. I guess you were too young to realize the impact?
