I never said I needed 100% of the show to be action

Dog you deadass making up imaginary arguments

no one is watching this show like "great episode but no constructs" in this thread

we have been in this thread weekly you came for the finale.. Constructs isnt how many of us even talk about this show. When again the charge of the ring has been established. Hologram being used eats up power and those emotional moments are worth it. Also those moments even if its him acting as a hologram eat up the special fx budget

Before you change your lies here you go mentioning the last 3 episodes. So even if the 6th episode you liked the emotion you are clearly complaining about it.

I’m not changing anything. I’ve said numerous times I loved the first 6 episodes

  • HaroldsChicken

    "its crazy it wasnt there"

Yes you enjoyed it but you wanted the spectacle

if its crazy the "lantern elements"

werent there and you need that that bad THE SHOW MAY NOT BE FOR YOU

Loved 75% of the episodes but “this show may not be for me”

How did you graduate high school

  • HaroldsChicken

    consructs

stop saying green lantern things because they had plenty of green lantern things in them just not things you care about in relation to lanterns

they had no constructs. You can say it.

    Nope

The budget is a weak ass excuse when

    1) this show had a bigger budget than a ton of other sci-Fi shows that had much smaller budgets but much more sci-Fi elements to them

    2) there’s literally another live-action DCU show with a smaller budget that has 10x the amount of sci-Fi elements in it

Y’all are acting like this show was made for $5M dollars

find me anywhere over the past 3 weeks where someone comes into the thread and says "good episode but needed more constructs"

You wont find it. Because we werent discussing superficial parts of the show . We were discussing the show itself.

Constructs and special fx. Is superficial parts of the show. Could they have better warped constructs and imagination into the story telling of a lantern show ? YES. Should they have not placed so much of it in episode 5 to have a ratings boost and lock people in ? Yes.

But you aren't really discussing that. You are just doing the " I liked 6 episodes and the 6 episodes was low on lantern things coming off episode 5"

the show fell flat because of the writing decisions in episode 7 and 8 not because of the lack of lantern things. You could have constructs ever five seconds in the final 2 episodes and it wouldnt change the issues with the episodes. It would just make it look visually appealing.

There is no logical final climatic battle with the killer that could be accomplished nor would it make sense. It would undercut the emotional current. He wouldnt fight sinestro which the episode sets up perfect for future movies or season of television.

so it becomes if you were paying attention and didnt fall asleep during episode 7 what did you think it was setitng up in episode 8 to be a climatic episode filled with "lantern things"

Sci-Fi elements are not superficial, you are extremely pretentious

The entire Green Lanterns mythos is straight up sci-Fi

This show filmed in California. The cost of filming in California is crazy expensive. Why they choose to film in California who knows. Again a worthwhile complaint to make vs filming somewhere exponentially cheaper and using that money on effects.

this is the visual effects producer if you look at his resume its not shocking what we got. Legion he did better work on but Legion also had a much more confined set.

There are scifi elements all throughout the final 3 episodes. He goes to space, flies, gets his lantern from sinestro, establishes sinestro origin.

Even if I didnt like the use of torture I did like how it set up sinestro.

You cant call things not scifi just because you dont like them. Nobody wins mentioned the planet and you said "its ugly"

which again makes clear this was never just about scifi elements you constantly shift your goal post and act like your post saing the opposite arent there.

This is also another thing that pisses me off sometimes, people act like drama & seriousness is inherently superior to other styles. The writing in this show was good, not great. The strong suit of the season was the performances and the chemistry between Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler

Idk much about Green Lantern lore - is this rogue Lantern thing for John something that makes sense from the canon?

I’m ready to get flamed but things I didn’t like in the finale:

    1. Absolutely zero Green Lantern stuff
    2. Hal is actually dead? Sinestro’s comments maybe say otherwise, but he seems dead af right now
    3. What was the point of the blonde chick?

Rouge GL has happened a few times with John or even Hal

    2. Yea looks like it and Gunn said if a character dies in the dcu they remain dead with a few exceptions

    3. Kinda of a nothing plot to show he was remorseful. She's was the kid at the end of episode 5

By Lanterns elements I specifically mean constructs. Them walking around on the set of Dune Part Three is not that

Here you go saying you specifically mean constructs. But you now have shifted from "lantern things" "lantern elements" "scifi elements"

You think that what you are doing isnt goofy but we see you.

I think a rogue lantern is an odd set up before he is in a Man of tomorrow movie with brainiac. Guy also likely in the movie. So he is rogue . Hawkgirl killing will be punished. Lex working with Superman after murdering . I am kind of confused o nwhere they are going with this

If the scifi elements and lantern elements have to look pretty for you to acknowledge they exist that is by definition superficial.

which again here goes the definition of spectacle

"something exhibited to view as unusual, notable, or entertaining
especially : an eye-catching or dramatic public display"

Which its not negative to want or crave from a Green lantern involved show which clearly called itself lanterns for a reason . Made clear its a detective grounded story and so many reasons why. Didnt even sell itself as watchmen which was also a mystery. Lindelof wasnt the show runner of this one. They didnt have as much budget. Ozark showrunner from Netflix first outing with HBO vs Lindelof coming off Leftovers having better resources and people because he earned it. Once I saw Lindelof wasnt showrunning or writing as much as they alluded to I set reasonable expectations. I made my thoughts clear each week on the show and said yeah parts of this show not for me but I dont hate it.

"Lantern elements" again isnt the biggest issue with the show or the final episodes. Those talking more about spectacle, constructs or he didnt wear his suit or say the specific oath. Are overshadowing discussions of actual faults in the writing and execution of the show.

I mean outside of people overly defending this that simply isnt a sentiment

Watchmen balanced it great , Heroes balanced it great on a fraction of the budget with great writing before the writers strike

I already said 2 days ago that most people dont look down on those wanting balanced action cgi story telling. I dont find people dumb that wanted some more of it. But to the point of overshadowing the conversation about the show for multiple days

I like it, fits thematically with the season and leaves storytelling opportunity where its him vs the guardians/ the GL Corps in 2nd season or movie

Yeah im not too sure how they handle MOT, I'll give Snyder credit that BVS was a great idea on how to address superheroes in a social political way. So I wouldn't mind Gunn doing something similar and it looks like thats the idea. Just needs to be executed well

No one said drama is superior within the thread

but a show , movie or game that can make you cry or emotional is sometimes more what you need in our given reality than "wow that looks cool exactly like the comic"

each person will have their own thing

sometimes you will need "WOW THAT LOOKS COOL THATS COOL"

sometimes you wiil need "that made me cry or think in ways I havent before"

that isnt looking down on anyone . When you have an inferiority complex you will think there is a divide.
