Shaun of the Dead lol
Halloween 2018 was so ,... decent, too. Ends might be cool. This felt like a mess
Yo my theater had a stabbing or some s***. We were at the part of the movie where the talent show guy was telling the story of the murders and someone started screaming bloody murder, they sounded absolutely psychotic and everyone started ducking in front of their seats, my friends and I were laying in the aisle. We saw someone collapsed near the front row and the lights came on and the theater worker yelled at everyone to evacuate right away. And then cop cars and a fire truck pulled up out front. I thought I was gonna die. People were saying either someone got stabbed or had a stroke and died.
glad you're okay bro
funny seeing the people that hated 2018 love this and those who liked 2018 hate this. I feel like I'm the only one who liked both
4 year time jump in Ends??
Is Michael going to be tearing s*** up in between? This man on a warpath

I didn’t enjoy it, but on rewatch it wasn’t terrible. I don’t think Green knows how to use Michael Myers in general. On a filmmaking level. This s*** felt like Riverdale with timely issues and nostalgia baiting. Just a mess.
Big John and Little John was one of my favorite parts too. Then the way Michael set up their corpses resembling their photo portrait

bro stay decorating the corpses lol
"So if you think about it, I mean, where we're leaving these characters on Halloween 2018, the world is a different place. So not only do they have their immediate world affected by that trauma, having time to process that trauma – and that's a specific and immediate traumatic event in the community of Haddonfield. But then they also had a worldwide pandemic and peculiar politics and another million things that turned their world upside down."

This movie is already thinly veiled in addressing “domestic terror” and the George Floyd protests (not aimed at a cops in the film lol). No surprise they’d continue pulling from contemporary issues. The closest the first one got was feminism? Green is giving good intentions a bad name with this terrible movie. Huge f*** up.
I feel you slashers are fun IMO though. Not as good as Giallo but still.
Also I’m not gonna lie this is a really well shot movie, I feel like they put a lot of effort into this. One of the best looking slashers I seen in recent memory
As a huge Italian horror fan I’ve never understood making a distinction between Giallo and slashers, they’re all in the same ballpark. It’s my favorite sub genre. Made a list chronologically showing their evolution.

Bro Imma check this out for sure I'm always looking for new s*** to watch
I make a distinction just cuz at least with Giallo there seems to be a mystery element?
Like look at the OG Friday the 13th, it's a "who done it" story although a bit choppy, as compared to the rest of the series where we're here to see Jason

Can you recommend some good entry level ones?

I get what you mean but I just think the who-dun-it mystery element is also present in plenty of American slashers too like Black Christmas, Happy Birthday To Me, and even stuff like the original Friday The 13th and Scream. I remember someone even making an edit of Scream called the Giallo cut because it’s in some ways more similar to those than slashers. And then you got Giallos like Torso and Bay of Blood which are closer to slashers than traditional giallos.

Bay Of Blood is Friday the 13th's granddad for sure I have my criticisms of HBD to Me and F13th as giallo / mystery types but Scream works for sure and Black Christmas for sure
bro i just seen a letterboxd review that called this movie pro-cop and anti-antifa? What the f*** lmaoooo
Giallo
Gotchu
Blood and Black Lace
Bay of Blood
Torso
All The Colors of The Dark
Deep Red
The Red Queen Kills Seven Times
Start with these. Be aware the dubbing in these is off putting at first but weirdly adds to the dream like atmosphere of them once you get used to it.

That’s silly. It’s at the most anti mob mentality but also is clearly sympathetic of people in the mobs. For as blunt and dumb as it can be it treats everyone in it as complex people with flaws. Reducing films into pro or anti x and y is a horrible trend in modern film criticism.
