"And then the last movie is the sort of cultural phenomenon of violence, that’s what the third movie ultimately is, a very powerful examination of violence. It comes at it from a slightly different way. You’ll like it…. If you believe in me at all, I promise you what David Gordon Green has come up with as a way to complete this trilogy is sensational."

"With all the buzz surrounding Halloween Kills and the final chapter of this trilogy, the director and writer finally delivered a solid sequel that will impress more than depress. This will probably be the first time the franchise has gotten a smooth test screening with no problems whatsoever.

I won’t give out any spoilers due to the respect of Universal and die hard fans but I will say this 1978 is back and i felt it every time the flashbacks happen—the tone, the feel, the music, even The Shape’s attitude and movement it’s all there. As for present day, I don’t think horror has felt more organic and emotional in my entire life.

David Gordon Green has not disappointed."

"It is the sequel that will destroy them all. They actually dared to defy with this new one."

2018 one of my least favorite in the franchise. lets get back to those H2 levels of greatness.

Hot take but idgaf, it's crazy how Halloween 2018 does all the things that Blade Runner 2 didn't do as far as being a sequel.

H2018 knows exactly what it is, and what it's following up - it returns us to this world and a couple of these characters, and makes a modern slasher that still feels true to the spirit and artistry of the og.

BR2 however makes the fatal mistake of not understanding the original film imo - the original BR is an infinitely approachable classic, you don't have to worry about its artistry or its message to enjoy it. All the deeper stuff is there for you beneath the surface if you want to study it.

The sequel however wants so badly to be taken seriously as a piece of art, and in doing so becomes a massive drag imo.

In closing, H18>BR2. Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

Blade Runner 2047 was the best movie of 2017

Aight so movie begins in '78 with a flashback that picks up after the end of the original. Michael has just escaped the backyard after being shot by Loomis, and bumps into that kid Lonnie, who bullied Tommy with the pumpkin in the og, and who ultimately is Cameron's dad in the present. Before he gets a chance to do anything to Lonnie though he gets shot up by two cops, one of whom is Deputy Hawkins from the 2018 film as a younger man. They take Michael's ass in.

Cut to 2018, Hawkins body lying on the ground after we saw him get stabbed and run over by Sartain in the previous film - he's still breathing. Alyson's boyfriend Cameron, who we last saw at the party when they had that argument, is walking through the neighborhood and spots Hawkins looking all f\*\*\*ed up. He calls 911 and stays with him.

Cut to a local bar, reports on TV starting to spring up about the murders going on. At the bar are both Tommy and Lindsey from the original, now in their late 40s. They kind of become the new protagonists for this one, realising that it's gotta be Michael when they put two and two together with the escapees from the prison bus the night before. They assume he's gonna go to what used to be the old Myers house and start driving across town.

Meanwhile the truck from the end of the 2018 movie rocks up at the local hospital, and Laurie is rushed to the emergency room. The ladies get settled there and talk about Alyson's dad/Karen's husband being murdered. As they mourn, Hawkins gets brought in.

Back at the burning house, firefighters are making their way through the blaze, as they dunno if there's anyone still inside. Michael has somehow managed to find a temporarily safe pocket in the basement, and when he gets the chance f\*\*\*s up the firefighters with the tool they use to break through the bars. He heads outside as the rest of the fire crew is still putting out the blaze on the roof, and there's a huge shot of him backed by the inferno of the house.

From here the rest of the movie is basically Michael making his way across town, heading for the Myers house. At some point reports hit the news about the crew of firefighters killed while trying to put out a house fire, and Karen and Alyson see this on a hospital TV and realise that Michael's alive. They head back into town without telling Laurie about the news report, simply telling her that Alyson wants to find Cameron or some s\*\*\*.

At the hospital, Hawkins ends up in Laurie's room after surgery. He regains consciousness and they chat, talking about old times.

During this Lindsey and Tommy have some encounters in town, trying to convince some teens at a park to go home after they tell a story about seeing a man watching them from across the street. Surprise, it's Michael, he f\*\*\*s the teens up then comes after Tommy and Lindsey, who have that nurse from the original movie in the car with them (Marion, I think her name is.) He smashes the car window here in a homage shot to when he smashed the window at the beginning of the '78 movie, but ultimately I think he ends up killing the nurse here while Tommy and Lindsey escape.

Alyson and Karen somehow link up with Cameron, and the finale ends up taking place in what was once the Myers home, decades ago - pretty sure it's just a regular house now, but I haven't seen any confirmation about its appearance. My memory on the details are vague - Michael shows up here, but at first only Alyson and Cameron end up checking here for him; Karen's checking somewhere else, or she's nearby putting a plan together with Tommy and Lindsey or some s\*\*\*. In the house, Michael ends up torturing Cameron (?) and kills him in front of Alyson, who escapes the house into the street. Karen is here, and she fakes out Mike again by pretending to be injured, luring him down the street.

Tommy and Lindsey reveal their plan here - they've been going across town gathering a straight up mob, and a massive group of people all jump Michael. He goes to town - they get a few good hits in on him, but he ends up being able to tactically go through them all, killing basically the whole group - including Tommy and Lindsey, from what I can tell.

Karen meanwhile went back to the Myers house to check Cameron, assuming the mob would be able to take care of Michael. Confirming Cameron's death, she goes to head outside, but gets jumped by Michael. He kills her.

At the hospital, Laurie has started hearing news of more murders. She rings her daughter.

Karen's phone starts ringing, and Michael takes it out of her pocket, answering it. He hears Laurie's voice on the other end.

Laurie hears Michael breathing, and realises her daughter's been murdered. She rages. Game on for movie 3.
