Cuaron would be a fun one because of his connection to the movies combined with artistic vision. Down side would be that it’s a HUGE commitment time wise, and I’m not sure he’d be interested in something like that. Also that he doesn’t have much experience in TV, and his one show (“Believe” in 2014) was a huge flop
I’ve seen Mazin’s name brought up by fans, but I just don’t see how that makes any sense for him/HBO given he’s already starting a massive franchise for them, and wouldn’t be available to begin working on this until 2026 at absolute earliest.
Lindelof is the goat of TV, but I don’t think he’d fit tone wise
I know I probably sound wild for even mentioning them, but Benieoff & Weiss did such an amazing job of creating the GoT world, casting and directing, and adapting the books until the very end. The end probably just scares me off too much.
Would LOVE them going after someone from BB because of how much attention to detail they spent on the character development and casting, and that is my main desire for this. Don’t see Gould and HBO having much connection with each other, but that would be GOAT

Not that it will happen and I don’t even watch the show but getting the creators of Stranger Things for at least the first 2 seasons since they have experience working with child actors and having a darker tone with comedy sprinkled in
But like I said I don’t watch Stranger Things so idk how good it fits
Most likely HBO gets someone who’s worked on another HBO show cause they love working in house creators but like the movies I think getting one person to work on the first 2 books and someone else as they get older would work well

I’m not sure, last I heard of them was being tied to Star Wars but that ended up falling through.

HBO is no better than Netflix now.
Also there’s no creativity or style actually allowed in their works. They’re all shot and edited the same way just like all streaming era garbage. The difference in prisoner of Azkaban to goblet of fire stylistically and editing wise will be more vast than anything seen in this show.

Duffer Bros are locked in with Netflix, but even if they weren’t I would not want them. Their writing sucks, way too cookie cutter/corny — basically Marvel. Which is basically what the HP movies were.
Assuming this leans into being HBO, and not Warner Bros “Max” or whatever, I’m really hoping they give it the depth and nuance it deserves.
And I don’t necessarily think the first two books need the Chris Columbus treatment. I feel like there are plenty of great prestige TV shows these days that have a lot of kids in the cast, but the shows aren’t “kidified”

That's the 1st big hurdle.
2nd big hurdle will be how will they re-invent the book 1 and 2 adaptations because the first 2 movies are near perfect to capturing how the books were.
