I’d totally get how it could absolutely suck if they have it be a cookie cutter/spectacle/cash grab show like Marvel or Mandolorian. And that would suck and be a huge let down to me since I’ve wanted an HBO/prestige TV HP series for a decade and we’re so close to getting one now.

But that could literally happen with an HP show about anything (Marauders series, First War, Hogwarts Founders etc.).

Movies were dogshit if you’re actually into movies and TV as art, and don’t just think about the movies from a nostalgic lens. So finally giving the OG story a chance to shine in the visual medium that it was clearly best designed for, and then AFTER THAT (or even concurrently) allowing it to blossom out into other TV series telling other stories makes so much sense.

As I said earlier, most people that are hating on this idea probably just watch Movies/TV like Marvel for spectacle, and don’t watch as an art form/care about good writing so they view the movies as being perfectly competent adaptations.

Read somewhere that Rowling is gonna try to use this series as means to distance herself from the previous cast, because pretty much most the major stars have been dunking on her

Also, the fact that the teaser for this uses both the movie castle and theme really makes this feel like the desperate cash grab that it is.

Again, should have been animated, but then, we know how HBO tends to treat animated series nowadays.

I don’t think this series will gain anything by being slavishly faithful to the books. The first two Harry Potter movies were extremely faithful to the books and those were arguably the most boring movies. They weren’t very cinematic.

It’s hard to imagine any good coming of this. Either way, f*** Rowling. The real cast will never side with her loser ass.

Genuinely curious what you expect a teaser to be when there’s literally no show runner in place and therefore there’s no footage of anything or even conception of anything because the creative team hasn’t been hired yet.

Criticize all you want once there is actually creative direction, but criticizing this teaser just proves some people will never give this a legit shot for their own personal reasons
