I agree I’m not saying there’s no racism. But it is well documented that a small amount of people make a huge percentage of the tweets, and from that alone I don’t think we can say it really reflects society. I also disagree with the assumption that race relations are getting worse

"political correctness" wasn't as important as it is now. Casual racism and police brutality could have happened with no repercussions because it wouldn't go viral on social media. Racism still existed, there was just less attention paid to it.
Racist encounters are well documented now, which is why it seems like theres been such a spike. However, its always existed

Social media is the #1 place people are encountering misinformation.
I think that you can point to that fact alone and claim that social media has helped create social tension in our country.

In the past 10 or 15 years, I’m not sure I would say they’ve gotten better, but I also don’t think they’ve gotten notably worse.
But if we look at the past 75 years (which is still in living memory) instead, it’s clear that things have gradually improved overall.
