It's also trash
This yr has been more interesting then most for me. I haven't automatically written off alot of s*** and actually gave albums a listen lol. I sense more creativity in music then in the past
I’ve gravitated away from hip-hop overall (on another note electronic has been f***ing crushing it this year) but it does seem like I’ve found less hip-hop that I’ve felt the desire to return to this year than usual.

2022 easily been the best year in music in over 6/7 years, I feel like if you think it’s been stale you just aren’t listening to / seeking out enough music
Hip Hop is all hype these days.
Fewtch and Gunna was the only ones that actually got hyped and delivered. Sprinkle in Yak too.
The rest of these niggas straight hype. Albums were big mid. R&B niggas too highkey. Just all Stan wars these days lol
The only hiphop artists that I think have slowed/staled are those still doing what they have always been good and know what works. Outside of that, there are hella new sounds and approaches to rapping that I’ve never heard and some unbelievable beats just this year. It’s not stale, maybe just expand your artists. Anytime I find a new artists, I always listen to the artists they feature and that has helped me find so much new good music
This thread gets made every 3-6 months
Honestly this is one of the more interesting years for mainstream music in a while because there have been some interesting new directions from artists who could have played it safe, not to mention the prominence of the international market shaking things up.
Not really. I've found some good artists/albums/EPs to listen to as the year has gone on
Quinton Brock - My Shadow
Ambre - 3000 Degrees
Yaya Bey - Remember Your North Star
Alex Isley - Marigold
Fana Hues - flora + fana
UMI - Forest in the City
Orion Sun - Getaway
Phabo - Before I Let Her Go
The House - The Set
Bad Bunny - Un Verano Sin Tu
Elzhi & Georgia Anne Muldrow - Zhigeist
Tha God Fahim & Your Old Droog - The Wolf on Wall St. 2: The American Dream
Channel Tres - Refresh
Drake - Honestly Nevermind
Robb Banks - Falconia
Father - Young Hot Ebony 2
Big KRIT, Smoke DZA, Wiz Khalifa, Girl Talk - Full Court Press
Big KRIT - Digital Roses Don't Die
Lupe Fiasco - Drill Music in Zion
Sango - Great Lakes Influence
There's artist with albums dropping this year that I'm looking forward to like ASAP Rocky, Danny Brown, Meechy Darko, Joey Badass, Fly Boy Jack. A few others I'm hoping for like Phabo, Miguel, Maxo, Pink Siifu, and even though I highly doubt it Childish Gambino.
Gotta say I been enjoying the music 2022 has offered so far
