The Chandlers also agreed the settlement was not an admission of guilt. They were free to continue with the criminal trial.

They admitted in their book they only ever wanted a civil trial (aka a financial result)

Fair point im not defending anything the kids family did but for you to be in that situation something idk what mustve happened for him to give in to the blackmail

And i understand Mike was very rich but he was also savvy when it comes to the legal system $15m is way too much for compensation an innocent man would have paid $0 and counter sued for defamation

There is no reason to settle for $15m in my honest opinion

The civil suit was before the criminal case I get that why did he give in to this blackmail extortion? We will never know and thats a problem

I just misjudge what he did after a bit because as an innocent man what were his options beside pay the $15m? Honest question was he not able to keep going to court until it got dismissed or mistrial
