My top NYC tips:
1. Walk really slowly. There’s a lot to see. Make sure you abruptly stop in the middle of every street and just look around.
2. Everyone is really nice. Try to start a conversation with everyone you meet. Small talk with the person standing next to you is very appreciated.
3. Sometimes you’ll get really lucky and and somebody will stop you and give you free stuff. Bonus if it’s an up and coming artist but the holy grail is a gold coin from a Buddhist monk.
