Saw the accounting/finance thread and figured we need a thread for those already in or are interested in working in healthcare such as residents or students.
Figure it would be a good place to give and get advice.
I work in healthcare (pathology dept)
Nice man, always admired pathologists. Pretty amazing what you guys can deduce from a f***ing microscopic slide
I work in home health! It’s still endlessly insane to me that the best health care of your life will be before you die 💀😭

I’m not a clinician but I work on bioinformatics

I just read that medical bills are reported to be the number-one cause of U.S. bankruptcies.
So important to treat your mind and body right.
Congrats man, what do you want to specialize in?
Still in 2nd year, so havent really decided. Clinical postings just started this year and so far I'm definitely leaning towards Internal Medicine or something of the sorts rather than Surgery.
But I'll probably have a clearer picture by the 4th year.

Best work/life/mental balance in healthcare?
I'm biased because I'm an oral & maxillofacial surgery resident but the job prospects are insane. This is a posting looking for an oral surgeon.
600k a year working from 7AM - 1PM two days a week in Miami. F***ing insane

Is this the job you were interviewing for and made a thread about?

NO and honestly i am so happy i didn’t get that job I interviewed for because the ward I would’ve been working in is 1: insanely disorganized 2: they lowballed me on pay and I got a better paying job elsewhere
Best work/life/mental balance in healthcare?
My job is surprisingly chill tbh. When I got hired at a hospital I was expecting grueling hours and poor WLB but my lab is very cognizant of burn out

Contractor means they won’t get health insurance / retirement benefits / pto, etc but yeah making that much with that nice of schedule is likely worth it lol

I'm a student. Good idea for a thread. Idk how much I really fit in though
What are you studying?
