I have a cousin that failed out of med school his MS2 year. Took the DAT and got into dental school the following year(now in 4th year) and told me recently if he could rewind time, he would've chosen pre-dental route instead of premed.
ultimately for me what it came down to was just not liking the actual work of being a doctor. i thought about and shadowed for podiatry but didn’t like clipping nails or amputating, i liked dermatology but didn’t like boils, cysts, etc im super squeamish. i had the grades to do it by the time i switched to computer science i had a 3.7 gpa. maybe i would’ve made more money but all my pre-med friends are still in school and im earning a solid living and have the skills to start a business that could be lucrative so i’m not really missing out financially idk just reminding myself about the money felt like a bad way to stick through pre-med but maybe in was just really young
I'm biased because I'm an oral & maxillofacial surgery resident but the job prospects are insane. This is a posting looking for an oral surgeon.
600k a year working from 7AM - 1PM two days a week in Miami. F***ing insane
Yoo DM I’m a D1

Being a doctor is not worth it just for the money, you have to actually enjoy the job, otherwise you would be miserable. And no job is worth being miserable every day for 40 years of your life
Saw the accounting/finance thread and figured we need a thread for those already in or are interested in working in healthcare such as residents or students.
Figure it would be a good place to give and get advice.
Just got a health inspector position, im considering it

what made you go into critical care?
Where's the thread for non-clinical staff 🙇🏻♂️
what made you go into critical care?
I love the hyperacuity of it and how fast things happen. I hate when things move super slow and you don’t see any changes in patients for weeks. I also find that there’s a lot of cool pathologies that end up in the ICU, and I like seeing those things. And then I also wanted to be able to do procedures
wdym by that
Hospice and home health are some of the best health programs around- nurses are better and the quality of care is far more personal. I’d say only deviance from this is assisted living- rehabilitation- nursing- memory facilities. Going into those you see the quality of care is the worst of the worst. End of life care is usually the best healthcare we Americans will ever receive
