There are reasons you come back to it that you can describe in a more articulate and less abstracted form than “replayability”
That’s the simplest way to put it though.
I returned to and replayed one album more than the other.
I’m not gonna call something AOTY if I didn’t have it in constant rotation throughout the year it dropped, or for long after the day it dropped
It’s okay. Year is pretty trash tbh and it’s maybe top 3, will probably drop to 5 or so by the end of the year. Guessing the Roc x alc album in a couple of weeks will knock it out the top 3
that album was so safe idk who it was trying to appeal too
vince is too mysterious atp to try and make bangers and the deeper songs were so plain
sucks cause i really liked self titled
I also liked self titled better
Odd to me the consensus is opposite

there's so much stupidity in this thread i don't even know who i should reply to first
Listen to so little new music my only contribution to AOTY discourse is relief that Tyler the Creator hasn’t snuck himself in this year
Who tf

Don’t know who buddy on the right is lol
Replayability doesn’t automatically equate to commercial though.
Few Good Things isn’t a “commercial” album whatsoever and it deals with some heavy themes as well as Mr. Morale does, and I’ve returned to FGT way more than I have MM
I think FGT also never really gets as ambitious musically or far out as Mr. Morale does though.
FGT is more…”traditional” if that makes sense. Like there’s no moments like Crown or Mother I Sober on that album that really push a certain boundary. The production is excellent, but I wouldn’t say it’s really challenging in the slightest.
like bro niggas are literally crazy on this site

This is the post that certified for me that you have brain damage
None of it is really much of a hot take. Worst year of the 20’s so far by a long way

Reported, nice knowing you

“Replay value” is an interesting term to me cuz in practice it often equates to “music I can listen to a lot bc I can turn my brain off and just vibe to it” (in connection with our earlier conversation abt aesthetics and the surface level)
That’s not what the tweet said though. I agree if you only gave it a one skim listen then your opinion isn’t really valid but if you listened twice or throughout the weekend it dropped and never came back to it then I think your negative opinion on it is valid
Idk If I didn’t revisit Yeezus years later I would probably still hate it. I love the album now. Maybe I’m getting off topic tho.
