    He’s right though

Y’all are gonna try to listen to a lot of this music even 5-10 years from now (let alone 10-15/20 years from now) and think that s*** is cringey. Lmao try listening to like famous Dex or some s*** now

As opposed to 96-04 Outkast or even albums like Doggystyle College Dropout C1/C2 that still hold up today

Fewtch, Kenny and all the goats still hold up

Hmmm, it’s interesting that these thread keep popping up…

First of all 2015-2022 is wrong. It’s not an era whatsoever. I’d say 2018/9 to now is when the new gen started “popping up” (lil baby the baby,Doja, Jack Harlow,Yeat…).

This is my problem with the new gen: MARK YOUR ARRIVAL!!!

I was born in 1993. I came of age in the 2010’s with the big 3 (alongside Meek, Sean, Wale, Ross, Krit, Wiz, Soul etc). I see Chance, Travis, and Carti as the last offspring of my generation.

I was talking to my friends about this the other day. They were DISTINCT events which made us feel like we (my generation) were separating ourselves the previous gen (50, wayne, Kanye).

    Here’s a few:

    • Kanye and Jay making watch the throne because they felt pressure by Drake (this is public record, do your Googles)
    • Drake “I feel like the throne is for the taking/ watch me take it” on I’m on one
    • Kendrick Control Verse. Putting the old niggas at one table and the listing the new.
    • J.Cole’s “let nas down” and dropping Born Sinner the same day as Yeezus
    • Jay Z (who went bar for bar with Biggie) acknowledging all three on a star is born. And threading subs with Drizzy for much of the decade.

There’s more that I won’t bother listing. All of these made us feel like we ENTERED the game as a generation. We were all in our late teens early 20’s back then. There was a CLEAR separation between me and my brother’s generation.
50 wasn’t featured on GKMC. He was washed
Drake didn’t desperately want a Ja rule feature. He was washed.

My older brother’s (he’s 8 years older) favourite album is the College Dropout. He can’t stand Yeezus. I personally thinks it’s the 2010’s best album.
Yeezus is Kanye first album to be influenced by the 2010 gen (Tyler, Death Grips etc). This is documented, y’all do your Google’s.

This is the impact a generation should have upon entering the game. Polarise.

Yall lil niggas should be inhaling us.

Drake shouldn’t sell more than Jack (He’s so mid🤦🏾‍♂️) or lil baby. Not 10+ years in.
Kendrick shouldn’t be the most critically anticipated album. Not 10 years after GKMC.

New niggas should have stepped in. And y’all didn’t (so far). Y’all about to be the first gen to drop the ball. Congratulations.

The only one that I carry y’all is Doja.

I’m 28, I’ve bought my home, my careers is good and I’m engaged. We’ve had ours. I just want you lil niggas to get yours that’s all 🤷🏾.

And if you tell me that lil baby or yeat is giving you that 👀👀 then I stand corrected. 🤣🤣

Because that type of music or it’s modern equivalent is what makes people want to defend against statements like that. Nobody thinking of Vince Staples or Tyler when they say this is the worst take of all time they’re thinking of Yeat and similar type artists who make cool momentary music

    BABY KEEM OUT NOW!

Rodeo is decent but that serves his point even more

rodeo is a pretty big dropoff from the classic albums of the 90’s-00’s. If we’re judging it off it actually being hip hop and not “vibes” lmao

It’s a good album but as a rap album it doesn’t compare to most actual classics

    😂😂😂

  • Every era of hip hop has great music but we’re not gonna forget that period when Wayne went to s***, 50 was dropping mid after mid after mid, Eminem was on that love the way you lie s***, jay was making albums like blueprint 3 and hopping on Coldplay remixes, dudes like B.o.B and Soulja were dropping hits, etc. there was a period in like ‘09 or ‘10 where all the legends were dropping absolutely terrible music and the hits were trash. Kanye was carrying at the time but how many records from that period do people really listen to outside of him ?

    Second golden era

  • May 4, 2022

The quality of rap music has seriously dipped. That’s just a fact.

Artists like Yeat, Carti etc can’t even be labelled a rap artist. They’re more or less a dance artist because nothing but weird sounds coming out there mouth.

The generation now who are meant to be the best are Lil Baby, DaBaby, NBA YB are just nowhere near quality. NBA genuinely just feels like a meme gone too far like Lil B was back in the day where people ironically called him amazing.
