You gotta have some s***ty ass taste to not think Horizon isn't a good game, decent at worst
Same people in here I see posting in the assassins creed thread or wanting more trash buggy games from bethesda
The amount of misogny and homophobia the gaming community has thrown towards this game is disgusting. Never seen so many people feeling the need to iterate negativity about a game they're not gonna play.
Yeah, it’s pathetic.
I will say, this series has probably the worst cast of any AAA franchise I can think of in recent memory.
Like, I don’t give a f*** about ANYONE in any of these games.

I don't remember names, but I f***ed with the black guy the most of the supporting cast
But only critique I really agree with is Aloy being a forgettable protagonist. I'm pretty indifferent on her and her dialogue is often pretty rushed or rude to people especially the men
But the gameplay loop is perfected, it's fun. Horizon has made the best formula version of that ubisoft influence than any other game of similar ilk in years.
Wait.
This can only mean one thing.
We got a guaranteed. certified game-changing classic dropping within a couple of weeks of this game’s release.
Never understood how people hate this game but love Ghost of Tsushima, which isn't doing anything different from Horizon except for the Wind mechanic for exploration

The story, characters and voice acting is much better in ghost
Also the some of the side missions are part of longer quest arcs that focus on each character.
And the mythic tales are more complex than any of the side missions in horizon

I might be inclined to agree with some of that but it's still a "Ubisoft" style open world that people claim to not like

Yeah but if those open worlds were filled with engaging quests, people would like exploring more
99% of the quests in far cry and assassins creed are fetch quests featuring some character that is on screen for 30 seconds and then never mentioned again. Even some main quests are like that… it’s abhorrent.
GoT felt like jumping into a Kurosawa film. It was still very much the standard Ubisoft formula game but the visuals and the combat carried it.
I never played either of those games or FW. But imo HZD is extremely overrated, I think that's what leads to the backlash you see on here against it and Spiderman. 7/10 games that get praised and hyped up by critics/the gaming industry like they're GOTY material. It's more that than being released close to other games that were better
I mean It’s still a solid ass game, the voice acting could be better the plat forming in zero down was horrendous but they fixed that in the 2nd game. It has its flaws but still pretty good. I don’t see anyone going around screaming that those games are GOTY but they’re definitely worth the purchase to me. There are A LOT of more AAA games out there more trash that’s for sure lol
Nothing groundbreaking but it’s decent I enjoyed the series for what it is
And graphically FW was amazing

I liked the gameplay in HZD. I spent 50+ hours playing the game and it's DLC, was overleveled most of the game because I just couldn't resist fighting every enemy I saw But the gameplay loop is pretty much all I loved. I don't even know what the plot was about, basic open world "climb this to reveal the map" and collectathon side content, dialogue delivered by characters who felt more robotic than the enemies you fight. There's plenty I didn't like and it has nothing to do with BOTW
Critics are way too friendly with their review scores. Spiderman and HZD are closer to 7/7.5 but both games are almost at a 90 on Metacritic But it's not just them, almost every AAA game tends to be overrated in the industry. I think the hate you see on here for games like those tends to be backlash against that. Because there's a perception that those are fantastic games (not on here but the world as a whole), people share their views because they think it's not the popular opinion. Sort of like a "Hot take, but..."
The thing is though, I'm fairly certain that most non-casual gamers who played HZD and Spiderman feel like they are flawed and overrated It's the critics who set the impression that these games are so amazing, so when people actually play it and it falls short of that, they feel the need to voice their opinion about the game
TLDR: Critics across the industry need to stop being so friendly and start being stricter when reviewing games
Better than Killzone at least
At least Horizon is dexent with interesting unique things about it
And it actually sells, again unlike Killzone
Killzone was fire
Never understood how people hate this game but love Ghost of Tsushima, which isn't doing anything different from Horizon except for the Wind mechanic for exploration
Both mid dw
Killzone hate is wild. Sony would lose nothing by dropping a killzone and resistance on ps5 as breaks between Spider-Man and horizon pipelines . Also helps developers take skills and other risk when not doing same ip over and over

Aloy is so f***ing annoying
Could give a f*** if she’s a lesbian
The way she talks to people is like her dialogue was written by a neckbeard atheist redditor
This is why it gets “hated” which it’s not even really hate. It’s just an okay game that excels at outdated open world design. It’s got a decent setting and a decent protagonist but it’s not really doing anything new.
But the engine it uses is great and that’s why people “hate” they wanna see a more memorable game than just a better Ubisoft game

Insane how overrated GoT is
Fairly rated I'd say. Everyone knows it's just Assassin's Creed with a really really good Japan skin.
