Horizon Franchise: sells ~30 Million copies
KTT2: I just don't get why Sony keeps this franchise around
It’s puzzling everytime Horizon gets brought up, the franchise is everywhere and a big staple of PlayStation now, yet everyone seems to hate it?
I really need to play them lmao
People s***ting on Horizon and then putting GoT on a pedestal is insane to me. GoT is hardly any better and a lot of the criticisms applied to Horizon can be applied to GoT as well. Both games have their faults and things they are good at and if you balance them out they are just as good as each other, for some reason though people only s*** on Horizon though

Horizon zero Dawn is way worse than GoT
Forbidden west improved most things about the game by a lot but there’s no GOT2 to compare it to
Better than elden ring
Way better graphics
An actual story
They just hate on aloy cause she is a biracial black protagonist

I haven’t played Forbidden West so I cant speak on that, what improvements do you think were made?
I would say GoT has excellent presentation that just really pushes it ahead of Horizon and better cast of characters but the bar was extremely low with what Horizon did with its cast and the characters in GoT aren’t that impressive either (I cant remember a character other than the protagonist in both these games)
I think combat in Horizon is more engaging than the combat in GoT just because of the ranged nature of the combat and how combat turns into a bit of a mini game with how enemies are designed. The combat being ranged instead of melee just makes it instantly more interesting since nearly every 3rd person game is melee focused.
Requiring the player to have some level of dexterity instead of just pressing Triangle makes regular encounters actually fun. The only time you required some level of attention during GoT was during the duels and the stealth being so sub optimal in the open world just felt like it was going against the whole Jin becoming a Ghost story
Honestly, one of my biggest problems with Horizon though is that you have these interesting enemy designs that really complement the ranged combat but then you have to shove a large amount of boring ass human enemies in the game

Ghost had side quests that were part of long quest chains like skyrim, where you learned about the different characters like Ishikawa and Yuna. Both much more compelling characters than anyone in Horizon. But horizon feels like it was designed with young teenagers in mind, the story has a Disney channel movie quality to it.
Ghost combat is also more dynamic imo, you can make ranged builds and I prefer using the bows personally.
Horizon combat just felt like you aimed at the weak spot and that was the solution for every enemy, so enemy variety was non-existent.
Forbidden west had better traversal because of the flying mounts and the gliding umbrella, and the skill trees and abilities were more fleshed out. The story overall was also more compelling and less Disney channel-ish. Also, actors like Carrie Anne moss gave the game a more serious tone.

I did say Horizon set the bar extremely low for the characters. GoT having better characters than Horizon is not that impressive. I do appreciate that GoT had side quests that focused on its characters but I still found every single one of them dull; seems like maybe im in the minority on this though. I find it hard to call the characters bad and hard to even call them good
Assassins Creed games have had bows and ranged utilities to make enemies go berserk forever and I hardly find the implementation of GoT any different from what its predecessors had done.
As you can say “just aim for the weak spots” you can also say “just switch to the correct stance and press Triangle”. Enemy movement and aggression toward the player made enemies varied enough and again, it requires at least some level of dexterity from the player. I think the enemy variety also encouraged you using your arsenal in the game. For example, yes you could just try and aim for the flying enemies but in a lot of cases it might be better for you to just switch to the ropes to drag them down and finish them off.

You don't At least the first one, I can't speak on FW

For me, it’s a “I just need to know” sort of thing. Out of all the PlayStation franchises, why Horizon? Why the sequels, the vr game, the Lego sets, the Amazon series, the f***ing REMAKE in the works
It’s so mind boggling to me to hear all this then to hear people HATE it lmao
I don’t think PlayStation has ever pushed something so hard, not even their most beloved games.

Basically like I want to give it another try but the creed formula is so hard for me to play
i thought FW was quite better than zero dawn in most areas
they still can't make good human combat though
You didn't have to make me lol this hard doe
we just got PS5s and when they drop the PS5 Pro I will feel I need to get it even though I don't play my current PS5 enough
I hope they learn from some of the feedback. Even those that love Horizon have good constructive criticism for it

Me too famo
I haven't got 2 consoles in the span of 2 years before... But since I never got a PS4 Slim nor PS4 Pro so will I get a PS5 Pro either at launch or wait until one with less issues is out so I might decide to wait 6-12 months before getting one.
But it'll depend on how many will be available and how good it is and if the developers do take advantage of what it can do or do wait until they're more familiar with the PS5 Pro development kits which I think only a few 1st party/2nd party and very few 3rd party developers do have their hands on it like Rockstar Games for example and maybe the Tekken developers as well besides a couple others like Square Enix, Capcom etc.
