Watching 1981 Halloween 2 rn
This movie actually slaps. Underrated. Obviously a step down from the OG, but not a very far step. Spooky vibes
Definitely underrated, the hospital setting is dope
idk why but I enjoyed the first one so much
It's just a strong concept. I like single location thrillers, and a lot are trash. Every Cube movie feels like they really thought about it. Not the characters or their relationships (until the third one), but just what the Cube is and how they survive it.
Blackcoat stuck with me. Thought it was alright while watching it but I still think of it years later, got some haunting s*** in there
really liked it, started slow but picked up midway through, very enjoyable
i didnt quite get the ending but watched a explained and i appreciate it even more

Idk if it was intentional, but I kind of saw the movie as a metaphor for d*** use. The character finally felt alive with the demon in her, and was depressed once she was saved. She had trouble adjusting back to society and ultimately turned back to the demon.
Haven’t watched it in a little while though, I should rewatch soon tbh

Always been underrated. Great setting and great kills.

First one is great. It's basically a Saw movie from the 90's and the practical effects are great.
Summer of 84' is so underrated.
The last 15 minutes is definitely one of the best endings to a horror movie imo.
How the f*** do you do spoiler tags in this site now...like wtf.

It's a nice watch and the soundtrack is pretty good

spooky
Goat is back
Exciting but not giving too much hope. Director and writer have nothing notable and the cast looks very amateur minus the girl from Eighth Grade.
Hope they can prove me wrong though. Texas 3D was a great idea but executed terribly.
BTW the Child's Play collection is only 19 bucks on bluray on Amazon right now. Lowest I've seen it go.
This a sequel /reboot?
Yeah, it's gonna give continuation to the 1974 one, ignoring all the others. Like Halloween (2018)
Kinda tired of s***ty TCM movies at this point but you know damn well I'm gonna watch it. Last movie that wasn't complete ass is the 2003 remake

Hard/nearly impossible to recreate the rawness of the original.

Oh for sure, that movie was just made at the right time with the right set of tools. It's impossible to recreate the gritty tone of it.
One movie that has a somewhat similar atmosphere is Eaten Alive also Dir. by Tobe Hooper but still ends up being far inferior

Hope this new one is at least better than the last two
Can't be that hard of a task

Exactly the tone is super important. Halloween 2018 nailed (imo) the sequel/reboot thing. So they have the template on how to do it properly, just gotta hope they execute
Just watched Unhinged and I would say it fits into the horror genre. Definitely some strong Halloween influences in that movie.

There's literally only been two movies since the 2003 one lol...
Just rewatched Hereditary, god DAMN that’s a good movie. I need to rewatch The Thing before Halloween.
On the topic of TCM, the scene at the end where they’re all laughing at the girl at the dinner table and they keep showing the closeups of her eyes, looking like a caged animal... that scene always unnerved me in a way that a lot of horror movies don’t, I’d love to see a new movie that makes me feel the same way.
