that line is barely paying tribute, sounds super full of himself. I’d rather him take action or tell us how he feels than act like a child saver in his lyrics when the reality is that they were dying in front of him
I mean he's really tightened up security at his shows. Not sure what else he's supposed to do? He beat the case in a fair trial and took whatever responsibility he had to for the tragedy without making excuses, making his shows safer in the process.
Still crazy to me that he doesn't acknowledge them or show any sort of remorse on the album.
Lmfao what do you wanna hear him pay respects over wondagurl production and “its lit” adlibs

lol that is the absolute bare minimum after such an incident, what if he wouldn’t have done any of that? we shouldn’t praise him for doing what he basically HAS to do
I don’t disagree, but I’d say specifically in this instance major media players capitalized on a pre existing fondness for violence and depravity that was around long before became the mainstream cultural wave again
But it wasn't largely pre-existing prior to 1992 in hip hop culture, and even America's predilection for violence wasn't as much of a thing until the post-Vietnam War, which again was a deliberate effort by the media to stir up nationalist sentiments in the US after it lost the Vietnam War. Prior to that, the Civil Rights era and Anti-War movements were two of the largest peace movements in history.

Personally I wouldn't mind a well-timed "straight up!" in my eulogy

This is personally why I don’t care about them timing the report to this.
On its own is it a d*** move? Sure, but like you said Travis kinda moved on with his life like it ain’t happen

I’m discussing this in the context of the most recent wave of commercial dominance for hip hop.
There wasn’t an invisible guiding hand or a wand being waved to create an appetite for violence.
It was one of the most organic grassroots explosions of drill music that major media corporations and labels seized on. Quite literally consumers blowing up teenagers and chronicling their crimes better than any middle aged true crime podcaster could ever dream of
Having seen the internet create these celebrities in real Time, I’d be hard pressed to blame a nameless faceless entity for this.
That being said, these things come in waves. Looks like hip hop, or at least the current flavor ,is losing steam at the moment. So we’ll see which direction it take next

Right, but these appetites have been largely fomented by the media apparatus for the last 40-50 years. An invisible hand wasn't what made violent media pop, nor was it some innate savagery amongst the American public. It's a long-term side effect of class antagonisms and ruling class propaganda that originates largely in attempting to drum up support for the Vietnam War and to create a reactionary nationalist climate after the US's defeat in said war. This is just part of that current, a trend deliberately crafted by the powers that be for the sake of protecting and expanding American nationalism and hyperindividualism.

I agree with you and that’s good point about the class antagonism

Hip hop has always had toxic elements within it that is a mix of social narratives and personal, willful, and even proud stupidity by many of its artists. But that didn't become a household commodity naturally. Glad we can meet in the middle on this
For anyone reading, Dre is a sexist moron largely due to his own personal choices especially as he's gotten older and richer
But that sexist moron becoming a diamond-selling artist ain't happen because the American public is innately depraved. Their psyches are molded and degraded as such by the powers that be. Were we to believe otherwise, we would effectively be supporting a soft form of race science. "Americans are just naturally violent" isn't far off from some negative racial and patently false stereotypes regarding the same point, and the go-to thought of "Americans" in this scenario ain't about wealthy white people lol. Reagan didn't target single white moms when he talked about "welfare queens".

Don’t bother arguing. Some people just wanna feel like they’re better than others for hating on someone who had an accident at their show. If they really wanna feel Travis purposely let it happen or doesn’t care then there’s no changing their mind. They’re gonna think what they want.

That incident occurred and he has responded by taking a step back and restructuring the entire format of his shows as well as making a concerted effort to ensure everyone’s safety via the HEAL project. Feel like he’s done a lot behind the scenes to ensure this doesn’t happen again that means more than some lyrics in a song lol

Also takes away from the corporate responsibility of LiveNation who oversold the show despite max capacity being exceeded. The disaster is mostly a result of corporate greed. Trav been rowdy and stupid at his shows since forever, but they never led to this kind of tragedy for a reason.
I never said it did. I said there are incentives now to capitalize off broadcasting the more negative aspects of hip hop for entertainment the past few years
I don’t think you even read what I said before to say this
i never understand how niggas sit online all day and never develop basic reading comprehension
one dude accused you of calling the Houston chronicle a right wing site and now you got that other moron saying that hip hop doesn’t need the media to demonize it
ppl seriously think Houston pd keeps track of Travis Scotts release dates so they could 'smear' him with a report of 9 people dying on his concert
yall wild

Hip Hop police is a confirmed thing my dude
Court findings also determined the fault was on LiveNation overselling the venue though, Travis was found completely innocent in what is publicly regarded as a fair trial. He has 100% responsibility to make his shows safer forever, but the deaths are just not on him, which is a legit court ruling, not a personal opinion or fan delusion.

I mean it’s not like he’s an obscure artist and we all know there’s the hip hop police.
After learning the Feds names their operation against youngboy “Operation never free again” I wouldn’t put anything past law enforcement with an axe to grind

There's no way Travis could see from up there
I have no idea why he's still the face when he's not in charge of security. The backlash is completely anti black

Police don’t ever try to manipulate public perception with releasing info, very true
