Like the title, is this possible? I don’t have to be a movie start but I’ve always thought it’d be cool for my job to be film crew. Like handling the cameras and setting up lighting etc. idk i just get inspired after watching a movie and actually reading the credits lol like i could be one of those names. anyone with experience get ITT
I think theres a guy on here that has worked in the film industry
I mean you can just make your own short films and s*** and market it on yt or your own site
Make s*** interesting, be an adaptive and charismatic lead, learn how to market yourself
start filming s***. plenty people getting discovered through youtube, and other independent projects these days
if you want to be a director, editor or a writer you probably have a chance, although a very slim one. if you wanna do cinematography for instance it's probably impossible
Do whatever projects you can then take your best shots and put them into a ~60 second highlight reel. Kind of like athletes do.
ITT: people who didn’t make it in the film industry give advice to a guy who would like to make it in a film industry
Try to read interviews by people who made it, man.
Move to LA and meet the right person
(you may have to do some s***stuff, but hey)

Editors are much more in demand than DPs from what I’ve seen

Full disclaimer I haven’t gotten to do big short films / features yet but between corporate type videos and freelance projects I do OK for myself
Need to get into film work, my gf is an editor / director, she has a degree but it’s not a requirement. The thing is tho most of her network came from uni... so just gotta do more work to get jobs first. You can probably start as a grip or some s*** like that

Colorists in high demand / low availability too
