You live in LA?
You live in LA?
NY there’s filming ALL the time well pre COVID anyways and they look like big teams somebody gotta be hiring lol
Move to LA and meet the right person
(you may have to do some s***stuff, but hey)
Pm me if youre interested in this i can help
Shoot emails to people you wanna work with
Offer to make their job easier
And then actually be good and have work ethic
you said you wanna be crew but what exactly in that?
Right now the easiest way to get experience on set is through LSP work or COVID compliance stuff. The film industry isn’t for everyone though, the hours suck and there’s little work life balance
you said you wanna be crew but what exactly in that?
was actually considering NYU at one point until they told me the math lol
I’m probably the only on itt that’s actually industry.
bro pls drop knowledge . I’m hungry I’ll kill it if I get through the door

Where you live rn?
If you want to be a director, make movies, lots of them, and show them wherever you can. Same as churning out projects in the music industry. Quantity > quality at the beginning.
If you want to be an actor or screenwriter, you have to be collaborative and work for free on other people's projects. Make connections with your available time.
If you want to work in production, be a production assistant. The hours are s*** and the money isn't great but you'll be near the work you want to be a part of.
Lol you don’t have to be Steven Spielberg to give advice on getting into the film industry
I didn’t say that.

Do y’all even read op? He doesn’t want to make movies lol just wants to help the people that are in terms of handling equipment, setting up the set, etc
Ignore everyone itt getting jokes off about s***and nepotism
With that attitude you not getting into s***.
ny 30 min from Manhattan lol
Aight. Stay in ny. That’s your hunting grounds. Dont make a life changing move to la, that’s an overrated myth. Save as much $ you’ll need that. If you wanna move to la it’ll come later
But you def wanna live near a major production hub so that’s a good start
What’s your specific interest? Or do you have one yet and how old are you bro

Figure out the name of the position you would want to fill. Learn everything about that position. Go on LinkedIn and find people in NY that have that position, and come up with a generic script to message them explaining what you want to do. Don’t make it too long and get straight to the point.
Make an updated portfolio or resume even if everything on there has nothing to do with film, bc if one of them messages you back then they may need that as a formality to get you hired. If you message 100 people just remember only 1 of them needs to be willing to help you to completely change your life
Also it wouldn’t hurt to make your profile pic at least have a good head shot

Fire. Camera department is pretty standard to work your way up in terms of being on set, looking jobs to PA, building relationships, then working to become a camera assist, operator, dp, plus they got unions
I came up thru post production so i probably had a harder time coming up then you will. Lol

yea part of it is uncertainty like my resume and certifications make a lot more sense for google than Sony pictures lol, but I guess if they see I’m around electronics all day it might do something
Also, look around and see if you can be an extra in a film. Try to be one and talk to people on set and ask where the people are that already have the position it is you are wanting to fill and then go talk to them. A lot of them may not even be hired directly but could be working for a Company that contracts out their workers to different movie productions/studios which would work out great for you (although you may get paid less but higher chance you could work for that company then they dispatch you to some random film production and you gain experience)
You can do all of this today as well. Or at least start taking the first steps
First step is to close KTT
I know it’s hard but you prolly already knew everything you needed to do before even making this thread you really just gotta believe in yourself and go do it.
