I think more experimentation in the melodies and bpms would elevate it even more
Cloud Drill is a cool example of this (Christoper Walking, War by Drake and War by Pop Smoke)

I think UK niggas need to make somethin else.

You can cos I'm just comparing the early years. People like stormzy/dave feel like a massive quality drop from those artists in 03/04/05...

There's amazing young artists rn I just feel like the top 1 or 2 aren't actually the best in the scene whereas I feel like in the 2000s overall they were. I'm so wrong about s*** tho most of the people i think are just alright end up like Aitch and the ones I think are the best end up with just a loyal fanbase.

That's true about Skepta culturally but don't you feel like his actual music was nowhere near as big the first time?

    I see what you mean.

I actually like Dave. Stormzy is fire when he wants to.

The Drill scene is really full of talent. Poet said it best some of these drillers like unknown t have a grime mc feel to them.

Not super well versed in earlier Skepta but I think I get your point. He had his moment in 2015 and been coastin since.

yeah i agree with poet.. that does give me that feeling more than some of the newer grime i hear tbh.

Don't get me wrong Know Me From, Wiley Flow, his freestyle over Rudekid/Ghetts one take.. Are all fire. With Dave early tracks like Panic Attack are too. Having a #1 hit calling boris is a true boss move too.

I just mean it doesn't feel as special or impactful to me as boy in da corner or home sweet home or wiley white labels or whatever..

i don't feel like it will hold up as much

it's evolved plenty of times, if you listen to an old 67 track and a prime 410 track and then like a M24 song they all have a distinct sound

i feel like Americans would be more likely to accept a UK female rapper tbh.

MIA is the only UK rapper to have proper major US hits like Paper Planes, Bad Girls and as a sample Swagga Like Us

Plus some people like Nicki do actually sound British on some songs tbh lol

This. I've been seeing Ivorian Doll's song being retweeted by Americans a lot on Twitter recently with positive posts. The UK females to the American ear has "less" of an accent to appeal than the male rappers.

Also with how people consume music rn I feel like it would be way less jarring playing a UK female rapper next to a US female rapper than with male artists.

There are a few newer male artists like Stormzy who maybe aren't as jarring tho. But I think the previous generation of UK stars would sound so off to a lot of American ears

Just a shame the queen Ms Dynamite didn't make the crossover like MIA got to
