Around 30% of the worlds population is overweight. According to studies around 750 million people in the world are obese.
Obviously there are some countries where this is considered culturally ideal like Samoa. But for the English speaking world and most of the world in general we know that it’s unhealthy and undesirable yet still have very high overweight and obese populations.
USA: 36% obesity rate
Canada: 29%
Australia: 29%
UK: 28%
These are all large and very developed countries. USA obesity rate is particularly terrible when considering a total population of over 380 million.
But if you look at countries in Asia
India: 1.3 billion people, 4% obesity rate
China: 2 billion people, 6%
Japan: 4%
Vietnam: 2%
Clearly cultural differences are largely at play here. One of the biggest differences is that in most of Asia “fat shaming” is heavily encouraged by parents, family members, and peers. There are constant reminders to watch your weight and fat people are treated much worse on average. It’s a huge deterrent to gluttonous eating.
In the English speaking world fat shaming is usually frowned upon. But why? Should we be fat shaming more as a society? Should we put the human health over personal feelings?
Another idea I have for America in particular is an obesity tax where obese individuals must pay a fee of sorts until they drop down to a healthy weight.
fat shaming has the opposite effect

maybe we should fix our food supply instead of taxing and harassing people lol
Yeah bro the Vietnamese are not fat because they just fat shame a lot harder!
Lmao.just lock thread rn
Americans literally eat everything
even other countries resources
but they're forgiven from me
f*** people. if they wanna wait til last minute to get healthy and drop weight that's their issue. Fat shaming should've been increased years ago
Take away fast food drive through's and put obstacle course's inside fast food restaurants in order to reach the cash register.
Taxing unhealthy food might help but I doubt that would happen
the bad stuff is cheaper
$7 wendys salad is the same as like 6 mc chickens. large drink for $1 too ? shhhhheeeeeeiiiiiittttt f*** a 6 pack

Yes let's punish the poor

"Try one month for $1"
And most studies about fat shaming aren't taking the right approach. The point of fat shaming isn't to shame fat people into losing weight, it's to deter already healthy people from becoming overweight/obese.
That's the way it is in most Asian countries. From birth they are constantly reminded to be careful and not get fat. They never become fat to begin with.
Taxing obese people is a terrible idea. There could be many who are poor and do not need that.
But perhaps give a type of bonus in taxes every year for maintaining a certain Body fat percentage. Just like how we give people who buy and use energy efficient cars money back. And more money the lower the percentage (20-25 15-19 etc. obviously this needs to be adjusted with men/women).
And I say body fat percentage because this BMI s*** is outdated. I’m currently listed as obese on there even though I can slightly see my abs lol
We could make healthy food cheaper?
Have to shake up the food industry in a huge way for that. Can't do that in the current system

That's why I said it's unlikely, bad food is way too cheap and healthy food way too expensive, unless you choose to only eat beans and rice lol

This sounds great but it should probably cap out at like anything under 20% for men and anything under 25% for women get the full bonus.
Probably don't want to encourage people going too hard trying to get under 10% BF for extra money.
Well considering obesity occurs mostly across lower-middle class communities (at least in the UK), helping out those who're less fortunate economically and socially might be a good start. Same for the US.
You should probably knock out HFCS and implement a sugar tax too
Athletes, celebrities, fitness models and those who basically have access to better food n trainers are exempt since it could be a cheap way of them rigging the rules In Their favor. Somehow make the loopholed small and reward folks who make a certain wage (maybe 70k and less)

Yeah that’s true
And have people do visits for the population after a certain amount of months etc kinda like the census. Another way to give work to some folks at the same time as well
