My question is, why am I obligated to tip you because you settled for a s*** job where you get a s*** wage and have to hope you get tipped well?
I never settled for service jobs, I just worked at jobs for s*** base pay till I could get my foot into the door of a better job. I don’t understand this entitled mindset that I have to tip you to make up for the fact that you chose to work a s*** job where you get a bad minimum wage.
Like if the service is good I will tip well but why do they feel entitled to my money because they decided to wait tables at some f***ing restaurant? I mean I know a lot of them are college students working part time but even as a fellow college age person I still dgaf tbh
From what I’ve seen this is an American thing and also someone new to this generation. Instead of YOU changing the WORLD has to change.
Tipping is for pussies
Get a real job. Bringing food to my table isnt a real job. We should be allowed to tip the hardworking COOKS not a glorified conveyor belt!!!!
#maga #bootstraps
Hahahaha “#Bootstraps” 😂😂
Listen, @op - I'm going to be honest with you.
Your problems in the Army are completely valid. They treat you like dogshit and often times worse for no other reason than because they can.
But as somebody who was also in the military... shut the f*** up and stop using your SELF-INFLICTED position in the Army as some "woe is me" pity party bullshit to s*** on other jobs.
Let me break it down to you first how your position was self-inflicted. I don't believe you mentioned why you joined, so feel free to correct me if that conflicts with any of these steps.
1. You talked to a recruiter. You could have backed out here.
2. You took the ASVAB. You could have backed out after this.
3. You, presumably, spoke to your recruiter again or multiple times thereafter. You could have backed out afterwards.
4. You selected INFANTRY as your position when you qualified for much more. You're not a child, and you could have easily looked up what infantry entailed. You could have backed out here.
5. You went to MEPS went through the process. You could have backed out here.
6. You went through basic training. You could have backed out during this very easily.
7. You are still in the military now. You can back out now. Tell your supervisor, commander, or mental health liaison that you're feeling too much pressure and feeling suicidal. You can start the discharge process immediately.
But you didn't, and have not done any of these. Do you want to know why I think this is the case?
The benefits of being in the military are f***ing insane, assuming you are not actively being shot at or being told to kill someone. And you are explicitly leaving these benefits out, and instead just trying to s*** on waiters by saying "woe is me, my job sucks! they treat me worse than you! deal with it!"
1. You get free housing. Yes, the barracks on base probably suck. You know what happens when you move off? Your housing is SUBSIDIZED. The government pays you to find a place to live.
2. You get free meals. Yes, the chow hall on base probably sucks - I empathize with this the most. You will eventually get a MEAL SUBSIDY as well.
3. You get free f***ing healthcare. I had to get my wisdom teeth taken out. The surgery was priced at $3000. Do you know how much it costed me? Only as much gas as it took for me to drive there and set up the appointment. Broken leg? Military pays for it. Laser eye surgery? Military pays for it. Dental surgery? Military pays for it. Medication? Military pays for it.
Servers do not get this f***ing luxury.
4. You get FREE TUITION (or near-free) while Active Duty. You get the GI Bill for 4 additional years afterwards. Servers are not getting this s***.
5. You get CONGRESSIONALLY MANDATED vacation days, every month. 2.5 of them. These cannot be taken away from you no matter what.
You're complaining about how the way you get treated is so much worse than how servers get treated, but you're conveniently leaving out all these basic entitlements you get that people in the service industry would kill for.
The last year I was in the military I was working 84 hour weeks in a secured building with my only access to the outside world being email or DoD websites. It felt like it was bordering on solitary confinement and f***ed up my mental health and social life. My situation f***ing sucked. Do you know what I didn't do? I didn't use my s***ty work situation to piss on other people's job situations just because mine was worse. Why? Because I'm not a self-centered prick who just wants to complain about his own problems. Other people are just as important.
So please, genuinely, shut the f*** up about how your "life sucks in the Army" if you're just going to use it to s*** on other people. You just come across as a loser.
Okay man I’m not reading all that s*** but I get the gist of what you’re saying. I literally said that I don’t complain because I signed up to do this s*** but you clearly didn’t read my full post.
I only said that to make a point that you don’t deserve handouts because your job is hard.
This is similar to the socialist dilemma. The more money you make/have the more you fall out of this mindset
But if you ordering food in pouring rain or inclement weather and don’t tip the person then you’re just foul

Why did you pick infantry if you don’t mind me asking bro
There’s no wars, nobody needs any killin, there’s nobody to fight right now
this a peace time army and it’s going to be that way for awhile
Everyone ik in infantry rn hates life, I remember you saying your asvab was pretty good to

Yes, I get what you're saying, but you're making a s***ty point because you are getting handouts because you joined the military
You were saying all this s*** like "Oh we put our lives on the line. Our sanity on the line. I work 24 hour shifts. I get yelled at" like you're trying to make an emotional point but you're leaving out all the tangible benefits you get from being in the military that these servers don't get.
F*** no a server wouldn't complain about tips if they get all the benefits a military member gets

Yeah I got at 84 on the Asvab and a 116 GT. I’ve been asking myself that question too. I think I just wanted to do something really hard. Something where if I told someone what I did I would be respected instead of looked at as weak.
It was a dumb decision but I don’t regret it at all. Doing that has made me mentally stronger than I have ever been and given me the inspiration to fight back against life.

You’re totally missing my point and I think you’re being obtuse on purpose.
Also once again what was your branch and what was your mos. I don’t care about anything else about your service just tell me what your mos was.

My branch of service and job is irrelevant because I'm not trying to turn anything here into a pissing contest.
I've explained why comparing your experience and difficulties in the military is absolutely irrelevant to that of a server.
I agree. It's your job so do it. You getting paid regardless lol. Otherwise, go find a better job where you don't rely on tips.

It’s was just a f***ing a***ogy jesus christ. You’re looking into the comparison so much that you’re totally missing the point of what I’m saying.
I literally said that you don’t deserve extra money because your job is hard because FOR EXAMPLE in the military people have hard jobs and don’t get PAID extra.
You wrote an entire essay about the benefits you get in the military compared to being a server but that WASN’T MY POINT. For the last f***ing time my point is that a hard job doesn’t mean you DESERVE extra pay.
I’ll say it one more time because I’ve already tried to convey this to you like three times.
My point is that a hard job doesn’t mean you DESERVE extra pay. The military was just a convenient a***ogy.

yes i understand your point perfectly. your a***ogy is dogshit because of the reasons i listed. have a nice day!

I will have a nice day too
Someone dont be getting tipped
When I waited tables I got tipped pretty well, I worked really hard to get good at that job and the personal skills it helped teach me were a huge benefit moving forward.
It can be a great job, but there’s a lot of cheap a******s out there.

You are relying on people for money, the only one who’s cheap (& potentially broke) is you.
Don’t try to shame someone for coming in, paying for their food and leaving. You’re just a conveyor belt.
Hey f*** you I may be inconsiderate but I’m not broke 😡
If you don’t tip your indeed broke. Step it up bro you COULD be doing good

Even if I win the lottery today I’m still gon be the same nigga

Loser
Joining the military is not a survival choice, whereas working in restaurants is the only way I can get paid.
I still think you're looking at this whole thing all wrong. I'm saying you should quit, or find a way to get discharged. Military folks treating you like s*** is not right*, but but it is the same at every job with management giving employees s*** (to far lesser degrees I imagine), but we are talking about people going out to eat, when they can easily stay home and cook. If you don't want to tip, then cook your own damn food and serve it to your damn self.
*you saying to suck it up basically misses the entire point. You shouldn't suck it up either. No one on Earth should "suck up" being talked down to.
Life must be rough to only have the skillset to only be able to work in restaurants
Man some servers and bartenders make like 60k-80k a year, foh begging for tips.
If it's a bad chick, she can definitely take the hit cuz you know thirsty boys tipping her the cost of their food or something
