Because in Europe servers get paid a decent wage. In America they can legally get paid less than minimum wage.

i have dual citizenship (us and a country in europe that i will not specify) and servers in europe do not get paid a decent wage. 95% of the time it's below the minimum wage in the country, fancier restaurants and bars give you about 20% above the minimum wage, but tipping is not big in Europe. A 1 euro tip in Europe will make a server really happy. Americans think they're just entitled to all the bullshit. I have a pretty decent income so i always tip and don't have any problem with doing it. Servers don't require any special education. I worked at restaurants in Europe while i was in school so i know what the deal is.

Joining the military is not a survival choice, whereas working in restaurants is the only way I can get paid.

I still think you're looking at this whole thing all wrong. I'm saying you should quit, or find a way to get discharged. Military folks treating you like s*** is not right*, but but it is the same at every job with management giving employees s*** (to far lesser degrees I imagine), but we are talking about people going out to eat, when they can easily stay home and cook. If you don't want to tip, then cook your own damn food and serve it to your damn self.

*you saying to suck it up basically misses the entire point. You shouldn't suck it up either. No one on Earth should "suck up" being talked down to.

your post makes no sense and you must not know how restaurants work

what do you not understand? the point is that servers expect huge tips from every customer when they don't deserve them all the time.

I don’t tip cashiers usually unless it’s like a pizza place or something but I tip everywhere I feel like

I worked as a server for many years though, so that probably influences it some.

Wowww I did not know that. So there’s really no excuse for this s*** it’s just Americans being entitled again.

I’m so disappointed in this new generation of Americans we think we deserve everything without actually doing anything.

That part 💯 if I go to a local restaurant and their food is good I always give them a good review and tip. Especially if it’s a black owned business I always make sure to help them out however I can.

Lmao @ a high schooler taking orders

You're literally a f***ing idiot. To think you know what is necessary to do a job that you haven't worked is insane. Please go apply to be a waiter at a restaurant right now. And not a f***ing Olive Garden or Chili's. I mean go apply to be a waiter at an actual restaurant with demanding clientele, a full menu of food that is all cooked in house, and in all likelihood, short staffed at the moment. You won't believe how disrespected you will be on a day-to-day basis. That alone is worth $50/hr and I make like $35/hrs doing it.

And for anyone who wants to be bring up non-tipped service workers who make minimum wage, they also deserve $50/hrs, it's just that a waiter is someone the clientele is paying to have serve them. Serve them. Serve, as in something only royalty would've had the treatment of 500 years ago. It's all inherently ridiculous.

Of course the person caping for tips is the waiter himself

  • Jun 17, 2021

I only tip if they got a fat ass

  • Jun 17, 2021

all of it instead please thank you

  • Jun 17, 2021

If they have good service, I tip them

I’m more fortunate then most. I know they rely on tips. Why not be selfless?

  • Jun 17, 2021

I dated a waitress and learned to tip well.
That's how they make their money. Same with doordash drivers and whatnot.

Having been part of a group of obnoxious annoying ppl who give waiters/waitresses a hard time then tip em $1, ya gotta feel for them.

  • Jun 17, 2021

You ever been to a waffle house at 2AM? You'll see why these ppl deserve a tip

Yeah. I used to work as a server in a couple of different restaurants in the US and overseas in Europe and it's crazy how in the US a server can treat you differently the next time you come in and did not leave a "big tip" the last time you were there. Im not going to give a random person 50$ just for smiling at me lmfao. If you were lazy enough to not learn a valuable skill or get education i am not entitled to make sure you make money. Simple as that. It's different when people drain the servers out of all of their energy, then it's only ethical to leave a tip to show gratitude.

    CLB PRADA

You are relying on people for money, the only one who’s cheap (& potentially broke) is you.

Don’t try to shame someone for coming in, paying for their food and leaving. You’re just a conveyor belt.

    You’re an idiot dude.

  • Jun 17, 2021

Some of you are selfish and absolutely s***ty, jesus

  • Europeans always complain about Americans not abiding by their cultural norms, yet come over here and don't tip like some d*** heads

If you don't tip in America, you're a c***. Plain and simple

  • Jun 17, 2021

Like just eat at home if you dont respect the hard work from servers

So you're gonna punish American servers for the system they're in?
