my spiel on it: haven’t worked in restaurant industry so flame me for it
1) the idea that i’m getting the same service done for me, the same job give or take, at two different restaurants, but one I have to tip more at because the food costs more is wrong. i’ve received similar service at both upscale and dive places, i understand that maybe i’m tipping more for the overall experience at the upscale places but i just don’t see that as fair
2) “just eat at home if you can’t afford it” Yea idk chief, i just see this argument as a cop out, but don’t really have reason to back it up, but i guess that groceries are expensive too so nah
3) i understand that at a lot of local spots small restaurants they simply can’t afford to pay a living wage. to them i would say that maybe you shouldn’t be opening a restaurant then idk. relying on the tips of patrons especially in low income areas or college areas is just ducking stupid. don’t take your emotions out on me, take em out on your employer.
4) if you are that down with money then just get a job at a corporate fast food joint that actually pays you a wage and doesn’t rely on tips. just about every fast food place is hiring
i’m not against tipping at all. i just think the recent expectation of 20% in the last 5 years is jokes
all of these have probably been stated before but whatever
OMG THAT’S SO INCONSIDERATE HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT!!!!!!!11111 😡😡😡
I’m honestly tired of hearing people complain about this s***. I’m not your mom I’m not obligated to tip you. People make it sound like servers in restaurants are f***ing brain surgeons. You just take orders and give me my food, you could literally be replaced by a high schooler. You’re not obligated to s***.
How do you feel about it?
in usa ur supposed to tip because food cost is reduced. i bet you would still eat out if food prices go up 30% to cover waiters etc
OMG THAT’S SO INCONSIDERATE HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT!!!!!!!11111 😡😡😡
lol. my ex was a loyal waitress, worked many of waiting jobs. i’ve died on this hill more time’s then i can count
i think its stupid that they make 2-3 dollars in wages and rely on the tips to break even like what type sense that make
i think its stupid that they make 2-3 dollars in wages and rely on the tips to break even like what type sense that make
they have to make minimum wage at the end of the day tho.
bottomline i just think it’s really silly to take frustrations out on the customer. businesses should cover nights that the tips don’t meet a certain standard.
Unbelievable how "tipping culture" solidified itself in American culture
Even worse - mfs are shaming you if you don't do it, these corporations who are exploiting their workers really turned you mfs into drones that uphold their dogshit practices
they have to make minimum wage at the end of the day tho.
yea im saying like thas a dummy system to me. jus increase the waiter/waitress wages and if they deserve a tip they get one, they shouldn't be relying on tips
I think you should always tip cause people don't make a living wage but I think it's f***in stupid
people should just be making the right amount of money
Tipping culture
I tip 5$ max if I'm eating out with other we all pitch in for the tip
My f***ing god. Can a politician finally make it illegal to pay tips for restaurants and have owners pay their workers a regular ass wage?
Why does America still have this backward ass system??
yea im saying like thas a dummy system to me. jus increase the waiter/waitress wages and if they deserve a tip they get one, they shouldn't be relying on tips
oh yea . they should just raise prices and pay them actual wages. and make tipping actually optional
I don’t tip my door dash or Uber drivers
These waiter getting mad at us instead of their employers
And non tippers taking out their frustrations on the workers instead of the employers
Tipping culture
I tip 5$ max if I'm eating out with other we all pitch in for the tip
if its just you $5 is usually more than enough lol. then if ur with a group $5 adds up
okay, i need to separate… some of y’all straight out NOT tipping?! like we talking at actual sit down restaurants here not five guys or some s*** like that? idk about all that. as said, i just think the standard of 20% for just mediocre bare minimum service is a no for me.
My f***ing god. Can a politician finally make it illegal to pay tips for restaurants and have owners pay their workers a regular ass wage?
Why does America still have this backward ass system??
We still use the Imperial system bro that should tell you everything about America 😂 we drag our feet on everything
I don’t tip my door dash or Uber drivers
I do just because I’m scared if I don’t they’ll spit in my food
Not surprised.
As far as I know they already get a minimum tip from the corporation. If I only tip 3$, that just saves Uber / door dash money cause they don’t have to pay the driver 3$ for the minimum tip.
Would rather hurt the corporations pockets because if I only tip 3-5$ they will still make the same amount
if its just you $5 is usually more than enough lol. then if ur with a group $5 adds up
We don't all pitch in 5$ I was just givin a number i would give depending on the service I don't remember ever tipping the 20% tho
ill tip unless the service was bad or something
its always hilarious to people get so angry about this topic
I’m honestly tired of hearing people complain about this s***. I’m not your mom I’m not obligated to tip you. People make it sound like servers in restaurants are f***ing brain surgeons. How do you feel about it?
I feel like the system in most of those jobs works by paying them pennies so I understand the anger but hey man I didn't force you to get that job. I also didn't sign a bill into law that made the minimum wage like $2.00 for ppl that make tips. so idk. s*** gotta change for sure. I don't think you're obligated to but it would do someone a favor
