The track turned doubtful gossip into mainstream news and gave Drake's image a heavy blow back then. And his rapping is top notch too. But I do agree with your take on those type of diss tracks although I'd blame current day rap ''fans'' for that. Reception decides everything

It might have been circulating on some gossip blogs but I’d say something like 99% of people had no idea Drake had a kid or was even rumored to have a kid.

I remember listening to it with my friends the first time we were all like “what the f***” and then the reaction on twitter was about the same

Also Kendrick didn’t follow suit. Drake tried to do what Pusha did to him to Kendrick, Dot saw the play and beat him at his own game

NLU had that commercial edge to it but to me SoA the sheer impact alone the chokehold it had on the culture and how it was executed just hit harder in ‘18 seemed like Drake image rly took a hit atp. The Notes apology was the cherry on top. MTG was good because it was literally the one type of song that could've stalled FM

Even dropping NLU that quick wouldn't have hit that hard

MTG was just so perfect and that feeling will never be matched

We’re at the point where Drake fans gas up TSOA to downplay the tracks Kendrick dropped

Gonna hit like crack 5-7 years from now when Drake gets into another beef from subbing someone 100 times beforehand and they use the Kenny tracks as the “right way” to do it

twitter was saying some of their jokes made it into the bars + the millie bobby brown innuendos / infamous concert footage were all were prevalent online way beforehand

& gossip isnt new to this at all. rappers have used whatever they could to disparage someone they beefing with for awhile now, regardless of generation or if what they were saying was actually 100% true

Push track had nothing that I thought was super creative, and had more harsh words against drakes mother father and producer. I was not a fan.
Kendrick came rapping rapping.

Drakes whole plan backfired because UMG wouldn’t censor Kendrick for him, that’s why he crashed out with the lawsuit.

His plan was to goad Kendrick, apply pressure on him to drop quickly and then drop Family Matters on his head (Which he had in the tuck for a minute, it was his red button) and then have UMG not allow Kendrick to release a rebuttal against him, giving him a unanimous victory.

Drake didn’t count on Kendrick not being a social media w**** like him and he didn’t count on UMG telling him no for once in his life
