We may not all be on the brink of homelessness but theres millions who are and the majority of the country is definitely worse off financially now, all the while the wealthy are actually getting richer. This def calls for some type of mass protest
Dec 21, 2020If Trump had won reelection, a strike may have happened, as the unions of this country largely back Biden. There were open threats. Right now, they're biding their time and hoping things improve under a new administration.

a lot of people still had employment throughout this time, the $600 is just a bonus at this point. they have still been able to pay rent, buy groceries, etc. some even started to make more money
not saying it’s right, just answering your question as to why US citizens aren’t reacting as whole
many people have had it extremely hard, but for many other people, nothing has changed, that’s what it really boils down to
edit: i do agree though, a one time $1200 payment and now a $600 payment is a complete joke. we are an extremely rich country, and our government should be doing a better job of taking care of its citizens that are in a hardship position right now

it was $600 a week on top of what you were already getting from unemployment so that’s an extra 2400 a month on top of whatever you were already getting

Dec 21, 2020The labor movement in this country has really been beaten down over the years by deadly force. (see the Ludlow Massacre, Greensboro Massacre, Elaine Massacre,1913 massacre, Rock Springs Massacre, the list goes on and on and I think you see the trend)
Even though people are hurting it is a huge uphill battle to organize a mass movement of workers.
Unfortunately I don't see any way that conditions improve other than a mass workers movement so I hope that it happens in our lifetime
