music isn’t sports man lol
i agree but like 99% of artists have a “prime”. very few have a second wind in their careers
Youre completely right
Ye is also the first rapper ( i think) who was considered a genius no matter the output, like there always has to be some deep meaning behind the s*** he does. Now that i think about it, that might be the biggest part of his legacy & influence
his output and live performances over 2 decades debunk your entire point.
denying the competition in music is naive. usually the hungrier the artist the better the output
it’s nice to imagine the correlation in a lot cases it’s probably true but being a musician is a journey & career ..that’s what it is
Frank is (no bias) one of the greatest songwriters of our generation
He’s able to write powerful songs in an ambiguous way, not a lot of people can do that

yup, you're right. anyway the people i truly fw are the ones that actually make the music credited to their name even if the pseud music journo industry complex doesn't care about them

Not even saying it was unwarrented. Ye was very artistic indeed. Not a knock on him, just dont like the influence it had on the culture. Same way that Keef is my favorite artist but i dislike most of the people he influenced

1) we’re on a site derived from a literal kanye forum
2) yes, he definitely influenced artists like frank. Maybe not even musically, but definitely in the way they present themselves. You’ll find less Ye discussion in the durk thread

depending on the genre it’s more likely, I guess popular genres are a lil more ageist about who gets to succeed

and it’s filled with competition. let’s not deny that. competition doesn’t just mean sales either. every artist wants to be the best, make best music, best live show, best cover art.
it’s hard making a living as an artist without looking at current landscape and figuring out your position and how to stand out amongst the field

The competive part is the best and worst part about hiphop

big facts. i think the artist that take best elements of ye model are the ones who are running the game now. they have flaws but ye set standard of what we expect from an output perspective.
putting frank and ye on same range is and was just hella premature fr
like saying frank clears d’angelo is crazy statement in itself. output and longevity are super important.
Stop comparing Frank to Prince lol
for f***ing real. say it louder for the frank stans in the back

I dunno I imagine if your real deal legend/vet you might look for inspiration but not competition, it’s not about that for everyone, you’re not wrong either in what your saying

Blonde is better than anything Prince has put out

music is social in nature, so the desire to want to connect with other humans is paramount in its creation. the social nature of music is also how it’s monetized. so that desire to want to connect is also clouded with capitalizing financially.
the more comfortable an artist is financially will therefore (consciously or subconsciously) weaken their desire to want to connect
his show this weekend proved that
damn bro i thought you were cool, aight guess not. your second point is completely subjective, a lot of people put Igor above Blonde.
ability to make great music
you missed the whole damn point of my post which is that he doesn't have that ability at all. he can put together a team that can help him bring together an album precisely because he doesn't have the ability himself. not sure how that went over your head fam. yeah i love a lot of the music credited under frank and ye name but what im saying is undeniable, would be disingenuous of you to deny
