Diva and the UAD mini Moog sound pretty good for VSTs. I know a lot of people swear by a***og lab but I’ve never tried it myself. I feel like I can get almost any sound out of my prophet 6 at this point but I have been looking at more a***og synths. That new polybrute 12 and Moog both look crazy but they like $4k unfortunately

Kontakt libraries with really good sampled instruments is the best imo. Seems like most of the really good sample makers mostly use them + live instruments. At some point I really need to pick up a guitar lol

only VSTs i use like that is Mini V3/Piano V2 i really only use like 2-3 presets in there max though, you don’t really even gotta use that s*** when you can just take a sample and use it to layer whatever beat you’re making

definitely need to see Kontakt though haven’t sat down and learned any other VSTs in a minute

i got Purity awhile ago and i love the UI but eh

Lmao, wtf is this thread, it stinks Old head. Only losers would hate on people making music.

If you dont like them you can ignore them. Its not like you are obligated to listen to this beats daily.

In fact, these guys made a positive impact for hip-hop, they hooked a lot of youngins into the genre. But you are too dense too understand

No dumb f*** I understand it pretty well

Yeah it “helped the kids” get on but has stunted and watered the genre down. As most of these kids don’t really give a f*** about the genre (last video I posted) and pretty much all based their whole style around copying whatever sound is poppin (which in itself created a whole ass feedback loop)

There’s some kids out there right now that are true geniuses. Creative enough to completely shift the sound to something different. The next Timbo, Pharrell or Dre are currently being suppressed by the overwhelming majority of little white kids making dark piano loops saying “soul music and boom bap is trash”

I was kinda the opposite. Started with FL but wanted to do sample based s*** so I got an mpc the second I could

Only in the last couple years I got more into composition. I honestly hate most vst synths

Soundtoys + UAD + Kontakt Libraries is what I mostly use

That plus my Prophet 6 and vinyl collection

i respect and admire song sampling and done a very few beats myself but in general i just genuinely suck ass at it (ive never made a full beat myself tho that uses pre-made loops, althought i have co-produced on songs or beats that already was using a pre-made loop or skeleton sample) beat tho with pre made loops

i got so much s*** legal and illegal its ridiculous since 2011, i ahev s*** i only used for one beat or project and never touched again too im also on the search for new sounds, or creating new sounds myself, or esle i feel stagnant

s***ton of kontakt + kepler + arturia a***og lab + roland zenology + LABS BBC Symphony Orchestra + Omnisphere and Massive are my mains - also FLs GMS and FLs Flex vsts plugins that are really good too

i then have an irl physical synth nut just one which is: Korg Minilogue 4

mixing plugins for beat are soundtoiys collection + decimort 2 + lifeline console/expanse + super vhs + portal + lurssen mastering console and ozone 8 along with FL reverb. FL stereo enhance + FL stereo shaper, FL filter and FL parametric

i used to sell beats online from beat stores, i still sell loops and i still sell beats when talking 1 on 1 irl or online + i do co-production for people online or redoing a sample with original play of a similar vibe if possible

i then learned how to mix vocals in my young adult years which i still do online n irl

my mains plugins for that is: soundtoys collection + antares autontune + chroma + grallion 2 + lifeline console/expanse + vocal doubler and izotope vocal synth along with FL reverb. FL stereo enhance + FL stereo shaper, FL filter and FL parametric

which got me a local studio job for some years as co-producer and mixer until covid since im an at risk person with health problems and had to stay in the house for basically 2 years, which i sold my only full on beat kit during. i also have 2 beat tapes, one from high school and one from a year before covid.

and now im doing my own music in rnb and electronic dance thats coming next year ive been working on in Arizona and California since late 2023 😈

You’re definitely right. There’s A LOT more reasons and it’s not solely their fault

I’m just highlighting the major hand they had involved in it

I’m also not saying they have no talent. Nick Mira is absolutely a skilled producer. It’s just the way he views how everything works and how he’s pushed it onto all the other kids coming up. It’s helped shift the whole producer community into that mindset

The whole idea of having a guy make type beats on YouTube blow up big time made kids realize that’s all they have to do

    can’t stand VSTs either

no clue how niggas be making nice ass melodies out of thin air like that and i literally know theory, most i can do is add little piano embellishments to my s*** or like the occasional pad or synth melody/layer

might need a hardware synth or some s*** atp

i just genuinely suck ass at it even tho i respect and like it, but if you heard any beat from me on here or ktt1 - 99% of them are built from the ground up. while only a very, very few used a sampled song. i had to make it work and luckily i did and developed my own two sounds one in Rap trhat is mostly orchestral based and one in dance music that is really spacey and "äiry"

i just broke the whole thing down above as a reply to Brock - im a MAJOR sound fiend ever since i was 15

music teachings from school + self taught stuff + an always genuine interest in music and growing up in a rap/rnb/dance enviorment from my family and area since the wombs - also scaler plugins2 and FLs own key/scale detector help a lot too with keeping on track making sure everything is up to standard

then i just play around with a beat project until sumn clicks, i rarely have an idea beforehand 💀

and aong with my midi keyboards - i do got a physical synth, just one tho, korg minilouge 4

im looking at keyboards as we speak right now

    might get this s***

i wanna start getting into making pop/R&B so im gonna have to learn how to make melodies and chord progressions that i like whether i like it or not so f*** it, sampling is so much different from messing around and noodling on a VST/instrument until you come up with something cause at least for me when i have a sample i already have a general idea of what i want to do with it before i even chop it up, it’s like a baseline at the bare minimum

i think i just need more patience and practice, i wrote a couple of pop songs on my old piano so i like to think that was a decent start at least lmao

    Nope

All this “no hater” s*** is how we got here lol

Type beat culture directly killed off any chances of a return of a superproducer era (although piracy really what killed that) and even the mini era after that where there was a clear hottest rap producer (mike will metro mustard) lol. Pierre got in that seat and his style was so easily replicable and every candidate for it since other than BYNX has kinda been an offshoot of that style

Yeah i feel you on that. Like copycat producers were always a thing but yeah the type beats culture definitely had a role in allowing more copycats to flood the scene

The push back I'll give tho is that type beats aren't always a 1:1 copy of another producer's sound. While on one hand artists use to go to the super producers for a specific sound but then on the other hand a lot of producers also made beats for an artist in mind and their sound. So I think type beats are similar to the second point.
